Do you ALWAYS thank drivers for slowing down....?

Yes, always wave a hand and smile - and if the horse is pratting about I say Sorry too. But I have noticed more and more rude riders as well as inconsiderate car drivers. The worst offenders round here are van drivers and the best are lorry drivers.

Yup. I always thank them with a wave (as long as horse is sensible), nod, big cheesy grin and a loud "Thank you"!

Have to say that most drivers I've come across are really good. It does annoy me that only a few grumpy stuck up riders can give other riders such a bad rep (and potentially ut them in a dangerous situation). I guess it's the same with drivers. You can quickly forget the 10 previous good drivers thanks to one selfish driver.

Always thank them, if they've had the courtesy and sense to slow down for me it's the least I can do. I've got a oung horse who is still wary on the roads so am very grateful for anyone who contributes to an uneventful safe hack!

Yes, always. Agree with so many of you that there are riders out there that really p*** me off when they don't thank. Always thank the drivers that make a an effort (any effort) to slow, cyclists, dog walkers who stand back, anyone really who makes an effort to accomodate my horse. I wrote a piece for our local newsletter explianing about riding a horse on the road, how dangerous it can be for all parties involved and why (''imagine half a ton of horse sitting on your lap having gone through your windscreen..... can jump sideways 8ft if spooked'' etc etc) It may be my imagination but round my village they do seem a bit more careful!
