potential buyers what their riding is like? I only ask as I began an email convo with someone over the baby, she didn't askl many Q's, just for pics, then agreed to come see him, I sent her the vids posted asking her who it was for, what sort of rider, (having already done so an been ignored).

Then watched the vids and decided he was too green. That's absoloutely fine with me, saves me a wasted viewing, grand, but we could have established this at the beginning as I would like to tell people before they come that he can throw a buck and is green, but not keen on just announcing it as it then sounds like he has a problem!
Do you ask potential buyers what they are like? (it does say on his ad he is green!)
 
I'd ask what sort of experience they have, perhaps ask what they are used to riding to get an idea of what they are looking for.
 
I've always asked people what they were looking for and what they had done. If I didn't think they sounded right I told them so (as nicely as possible).
 
I'd do absolutley everything in my power to make sure that the temperament, experience and type of riding (ie competition/ hacker) of the potential buyer was a complimentary match for the horse that i was selling. It's not just the buyer that should ask questions. Most genuine buyers would understand your need to ask as many questions and be as thorough as possible when selling a horse. It is the responsible thing to do for all parties involved.
 
i always ask what they are looking for, and i'm always totally totally honest about the horse's good and bad points, plus i have a permanent "i'll buy him/her back at any time" agreement with anyone i've sold a horse to. (i hate selling horses, i'm so protective of them.)
 
yes i did when selling millie...take for example a few people were like well iv done such and such show jumping and i mainly want to do this so i said, no sorry, she wont be the right horse for you and explained why...saves everyones time

I've never been asked what my riding is like. In fact when I went to see the last horse I bought I rode her around the show ground before they asked me anything about where we were from, whether we had any prior experience etc. So they let someone loose on their horse around a busy show - they didn't know if I could spell horse let alone ride one! I know you can normally tell a person's degree of experience but it's usually my OH who does the talking - I stand back and watch and analyze every little thing they say and what the horse is doing, then if he misses anything I ask when he's done. Then I jump around in excitement as he pays - quite good really

I would definitely ask as I'd want to make sure my horse was going to a good owner - although there are ways of asking and you can normally get out of them their level of experience with general chit-chat rather than direct questioning. I would definitely ask on the phone what they were wanting to do with the horse etc and so many people selling never do that. I don't know about the whole 'homes will be vetted' thing though - it always puts me off because I'm scared of the person being some nightmare woman who makes me want to cry. If you want to check the place/person out you can always ask when they come to view the horse - if they want him enough they won't mind and if they say no you know they aren't right

I always ask what they're like to ride and tell the seller what I want to do with the horse and have so many q's, think I'll have to have a list to ask buyers as well.
I am as honest as I can be, tell them if he bucks etc, I get told off for being too negative, saves a wasted viewing!
I tend to just leave the horse off where they're going as a home vetting, money is exchanged there. Unless I know the person that is.
 
i possibly wouldnt have in the past, but i would now, im very wary about selling anything after what happened with Patches freinds pony.
