Do you believe all you read on here?

I actually belive most of what I read on here, there are a few members that change their story then I find I cant believe anything they say again......these are just attention seekers.
I dont watch what I say on here because everything is true I dont have to make sure my story is straight because it always is. It makes me sad to think that people on here make stuff up about 'their' horses for attention espeshally (sp) ailments....thats just wrong :S

I think that is bad if someone has used a product and found it good fair enough but to post just because your getting a freebie is wrong.
By the way i think the new merc,s are loverly they drive soo well.

Of course I do. Its on the internet so has to be true!
Obviously I treat 90% with caution and 10% with a pinch of salt but other than that swallow it hook line and sinker

MG how can you say that there are forum members you don't trust ;-)

I take alot of things on here with a pinch of salt, there's always another side to a story and as previously posted, the majority of horse girls are nuts.

When it comes to products, I'll only recommend something if I've used it myself and find that it really works and vice versa, if someone says something is good then yes I admit I will go out of my way to try it, I'm a bit of geek when it comes to stuff like that because I'm a bit over cautious about things and always wanting to make sure I can do the best for my horses.
I don't believe everything everybody says about their horses though, you do stumble across the odd member or two that tend to forget what they have posted previously and obviously think some of us came down in last weeks rain shower and don't notice when they change the stories lol, as they say those that are economical with the truth need to have good memories. I do believe the forum has a lot of nice genuine and very experienced horseman though and I do take on board a lot of what some of them do say, I guess there are people you'd trust your horses with and others that you wouldn't, bit like on a livery yard.

No way! I tend to go by recommendation, so if enough people tout about it and they are normal, regular users, then I will look it up myself and may consider using it. However, I don't go on one recommendation and I ignore the marketing threads!

I also wanted to say that there is one person who uses this site who I know from another site. I have made her aware that I recognise her from another site, but I am not sure that she has acknowledged this as she still keeps telling stories on here that do not match the stories she tells on the other site as she leaves out vital information or exaggerates things on one or other site (or puts information in that is so far-fetched!). I find it very funny myself, and I find her incredibly irritating because she is also seemingly incapable of accepting any form of criticism when she posts asking for opinions!

NO..........

but it's great place to ask stuff, but as in RL you do have weigh up the pro and con. But a good place to start research.

Agree totally with Kick on.

I never take anything I read on here or anywhere as gospel. You have to combine recommendations, your own research and a blob of common sense with a bit of luck

Likewise, if I'm giving advice, I try to do so without implying its my way or no way. I relay my experiences and hope that people consider it a help.

God no!

I do wonder how some people manage to keep themselves, let alone a horse alive though....

LOL! Ditto that!

I tend to disbelieve recommendations from new posters on here, in the view that they are the owner/manufacturer of the product and are just looking for some free advertising!

Again, as others above have said, I tend to only trust the regular posters for advice on products, how to use etc.

Being the cynical sort, I never believe all the recommendations that companies print on their literature either, until I recognised the name/town address of someone local to me, and knew she'd used the product to great success with her horses!

I knew that before I bought the stuff, but it was interesting to read an excerpt of her thanks to the company, made the other comments seem more real.

As it is, the product hasn't quite had the same effect on my horse, but that's life I suppose!!

Do I believe all I read on here?

Nope. Depends very much on who is posting and the context. For instance, if advice is asked for and someone makes a recommendation in response I would treat it with some respect, but new members making posts simply to sing the praises of a particular product just make me chuckle at their naivety. Nothing very stealthy about that sort of marketing!

[/ QUOTE ] That's a very good point! I don't normally take much notice of testimonials either, but I went on a dealer's website the other day and saw at least three testimonials from people I know and whose horses I have seen competing very successfully and happily at local competitions. Now that is the sort of recommendation I would take note of!

nope, but i do appreciate everyones experiences and do take on board what they say. i then decided if the opinion/experiences are relevant to me. i don't pour my whole life on here so i could ask for advice but half of the answers might not be relevant as you don't all know the ins and outs of the situations.

There are unfortunately people I know in real life I find hard to believe, and seeing what has been achieved by some on here....no, I dont believe everything I read especially on here. But with the likes of the Daily Mail I believe everything

I have recommended/advised on a product that I sell, but I only sell that product because it worked so well for me, and I am always open and upfront when I post about it, so people can then take or leave the advice as they wish

A few weeks ago someone from the company joined the forum and started "advertising" threads about the product, and I came down on her like the proverbial ton of bricks

She hasn't spoken to me since

I like to read people's opinons and reviews. I will then go and do further research on the product.

I do recommend things I have used and found to be good as I hope that others may find them as useful as I have.
