Ever had that feeling that you and your horse were a match made in heaven?, that somehow it was just meant to be. Did you know straight away when you first saw your horse that 'yes, this was the one'?
I spent ages looking for a show horse, saw some lovely horses but for one reason or another something just wasnt quite right so i gave up. I then got a phone call out of the blue about Gizmo my youngster,he was 5 mins down the road from me under my nose all that time and he was everything i was looking for. I bought him straight away. Did you find your perfect horse by sheer chance ?

Yes- she was on the yard, I was doing the work on her in preperation for her to be sold on behalf of her owner and then Boss decided to retire himself and it just sort of fell into place.

I had rung up and emailed about quite a few horses but none stood out for me at all.
Anyways amonst the search I came across a different website which I have never used or heard of before, his advert came up and there were no pictures and the advert was only a line or two but I knew I had to find out more about him. Had pictures sent to me and I fell in love with him, he fitted everything I wanted (height, price age) and he was only 10 minutes away from home!

Went to see him and loved him, everything just clicked. He was also falsley advertised despite that he is everything I could want.

I dont know why I bought Drifter I just know I wouldnt have looked at him if he had been advertised at 16.3 as I was looking for a 16.1. Plus he is 5 and I really wanted an 8 year old but he was local. If someone asked me what did you see when you tried him I dont know. I watched him ridden and thought I like. Rode him and thought I shouldnt like him but I do.

I may well eat my words in 6 months time but I still have an inner feeling that he is a little bit special and we really like each other. So yes I think it was Destiny because he is bigger and younger than I wanted but there is 'something' about him.

Yes- I had a horse i just didn't get on with, I wanted to ask the dealer i bought him off if she would take him back before i tried to see him privately, but I had lost all her numbers...i saw an advert for a horse in the paper and it jumped out at me, i knew I had to go see this horse, so i rang the number and guess what - it was the dealer i was looking for, she had moved yards and changed contact numbers- she swapped horses for me no problem and we have been together years now, wouldnt part with him.....

Not really sure

For H the lady that found him for his last owner said he was getting rid and needed a home asap I offered a small amount

Never thought we would get him, I saw a photo and it just felt right, taking on something Ive never met seems silly now but I never questioned it once. so maybe destiny / fate

When i bought Sal i was told about a jet black colt for sale. My friend and i went searching and saw Sala in a field. A black/white filly. Love at first sight! I traced her owners and persuaded them to sell her to me. Still have her 26 years later

Yes, i was chasing a loose horse out hunting and it stopped to chat to a cob over the fence so i grabbed it and completely fell in love with the handsome cob. A bit of detective work and we had agreed to buy him that the afternoon - had him 3 years now, the much loved opinionated little git

My OH has a story too. We went to see a mare in Wiltshire who had been transported to the yard by a friend of ours, she later saw the mare's ad in Nag&Dog and told us about her. When we got there the mare wasnt what my OH wanted. As we were leaving the yard manager said she was about to advertise her big chap and would we like a look. My OH looked at J over the door and said "Yes i'll have him" tried him out and the following weekend picked him up- fab, super friendly horse

I am still waiting for destiny to bring me and my perfect horse together....

I thought it had happened a few years ago when I went to see a horse for sale, and fell in love with the horse in the stable next to it! I know for sure he would have been my dream horse, my horse of a lifetime, but I lost him just a few months later, he was only seven.

I saw pictures of my girl when she was 2 and liked her. Then a friend wanted a youngster to bring on an I showed her pictures of this little girly. we then went to see her and she came home with my friend. That was the february.... by the october she was mine. It did however take nearly 18 months for us to bond though as when I got her it was for all the wrong reasons and I didn't really feel anything for her. Bless her cottons she has had a rough ride as she has had to prove herself to me.... but now I wouldn't part with her and love her to bits

Yep, I do now!

Lost one of my TB's very suddnely to a brain hemhorrage (sp?) and certainly hadn't thought of getting another one straight away -but 4 days later a friend rang up to say she had a baby in, wasn't really ready to be sold but she thought he would suit me as a nice project, went to see him, loved him, picked him up the following w/e (talk about rebound purchase..hee hee!!) and he is now proving to be a little star.

So guess although fate wasn't very kind in taking my TB away, destiny certainly made up for it a few days later!

he was a lot smaller than Higs was and I didn't think he'd ever be able to carry me as he needed some tlc as had come from a hunt yard in Ireland. tried him and he didn't put a foot wrong I felt so safe on him. Went to try him again and that was it a done deal and TBH he is such a fantastic horse for me that I feel priveleged to own him

Oh yeas, definately. I was a lil' scrawny 15yo girl trying to find my perfect 1st horse. Tried quite a few with no luck. Approached a friend who was into bringing on youngsters and then selling them on as competition horses. Went to see said person with a horse in action at a local show in the pouring rain. Tried this humungous (sp?) 7yo 16.3hh shire x tb mare and popped her over some fences in the practise ring. The moment my dad approached with a huge golfing umbrella flapping about in the wind and she didn't flinch an eyelid, we knew we had to have her. She's worth her weight in gold. Even though she's now semi-retired at 16, only hacking about and doing a few sponsored rides, and I've moved on to compete on my other ned, she'll never leave us until her last days.

Yes...well techincally it was Westlife rather than destiny!! He was in manchester, 120 miles away and I wouldn't have travelled that far to see a horse but was going to manchester to see Westlife in concert that weekend anyway so I went to see him and fell in love at first sight

Oh Yes fate brought me and my new horse together, the same day as my horse who i had from a 4 year old till she was 15,we grew up together and went from pony club to BE I miss her so much, she was put down due to a injury sustained out in the field from another horse. My Mum and Dads boss had a ex racehorse who was looking for a new home he had a year out in the field to grow as he didnt take to racing went to see him the tuesday after my mare was put down on the friday and picked him up the following tuesday i didnt even ride him as he hadnt been sat on since he came out of training but we have never looked back since and he is doing very well with his dressage getting over 60% and when he is very good 72% hope to event him but this is going to be a long wait until he is confident enough to but we have started showjumping which i hope to crack on with over the winter and introduce him to xc next spring!!!!

Yes definitely with Oofa. I was at a friend's house and she had been looking for a horse. Someone rang and left a message on her answerphone saying they knew of an ex racehorse and when they gave the name of the owners I recognised it as someone my parents used to know. My friend was too scared to go and try out an ex racehorse in case it was a nutter, so I rang the lady and went to try it for her, loved him and ended up having him myself. I've had him about 9 years now!

Definately with my conne - went to see the horse in the stable next door, but there was this little grey head poking out looking so sad - i asked if he was for sale too. Having totally lost my nerve on the mare I'd just sold (4 trips to hospital!) i was looking for a horse i could 'learn' to trust. Sat on River - he was being a total toad but i couldnt stop smiling and trusted him instantly - the friend i took with me had been through everything with my mare with me and was in tears seeing me smile whilst riding - and shock horror smiling!! rode him a few more times to make sure but knew he had to be mine - oddly the mare i sold was called Danu - irish myth goddess of waterways and rivers - and well he was called River...

My new one (bought on Sunday) we'll have to see - a friend of YO bought him from the sales on the Friday and realised she'd made a mistake by the Sat afternoon - I've been looking for a project since River went seriously lame (not sure what the outcome is going to be for him) and had fallen for Zeus when he was delivered to our yard for her to collect him. YO knew i really liked him so called me when she changed her mind - we're really connecting so watch this space on him!!

Your horses find you - thats what i believe anyway.

yep. Went to see a dealer for no reason other than we hadn't seen him for ages, and there was H, being ridden in the school. I fell in love straight away, and fussed him when he was back in his stable. He just licked me and I didn't want to go, and was jealous when told someone was going to view him at weekend.

I went home and got stroppy and upset! Mentioned to OH that I had seen this horse and fell in love and thought no more of it, as didn't have any money.

Few days later, OH told me to make arrangements to pick him up! he had phoned dealer and said, 'that horse Jane saw, I want to buy it'

I was meant to go that day!

When i was 15, My mum finally agreed to buy me my own horse - I was looking throught he free ads and one of mums friends looked over my shoulder and pointed out an ad and said to me 'go and look at that one, you will end up buying that one' I did, and bought him (a 12 year old grey arab x welsh)and had 4 fantastic years with him.

Then 4 years ago, I was looking to get a confidence giver after losing my nerve on a TB x and was sat at work scanning the free ads, and someone who has no intetrest in horses looked over my shoulder and pointed out a horse and said 'go and look at that one - you will buy that one' thought it was a little spooky at the time, but went anyway to see a 12 year old grey arab x welsh who I got on and immediatly felt safe on him, ended up buying him and have again had 4 fantastic years on him - sadly his legs seem to be failing him now but it has been like history repeating itself.

i don't really believe in destiny, but I would say that both Ferdie and Tia just fell into place.

I had only looked at 4 or 5 horses before Ferdie and had only been looking for a week - i saw his unremarkable advert in the trade-it paper, and as it was only 30 minute drive away, went to have a look, and put an offer on that evening. The funny thing was that he was meant to be going in the horse and hound that week (for a little bit more money!) but the advert had been missed out, so they just put him in the trade-it because it was quick and free - he was actually being sold by a fairly well known eventer on behalf of her cousin who had gone travelling. He is a very special horse for me, and will hopefully never be sold.

Tia arrived through a friend - I had mentioned that I was looking for a cheap project, and lo and behold a couple of weeks later she was given Tia through a racehorse owning friend of her other half... she let me know, I went to try, and bought her there and then too!

Definately. Was looking for my first horse, had in my mind a bay 10-14 year old gelding, IDx 16.2 plus (I'm 5'11")

Saw an ad in the Nag and Hound, a 15.3 6 year old GREY MARE ! Went on some bizarre impulse, even my hubby thought I'd gone mad. She was greener than a twig (can still act that way now), had zero steering (should have realised when I saw the full cheeked bit), and was a kick like stink to go and pull in the Gob to stop, she snorted at a polo, was scared of a cat sitting on a fence, & I was sold her as bombproof suitable for a novice... (she's not, even now!...some dealers!)

Still, it was love at first sight for me. Seven weeks later, fell off her whilst we were having our first lesson. She spooked (at nothing) slammed my hand into the menage fence, and dragged me along it until "M" pulled me off, breaking my finger. To add insult to injury my foot got stuck in my SAFETY stirrup & I was dragged up the school whilst my horrified new instructor looked on helplessly. The mare didn't try to kick me. I forgave her, as I do for all her foibles, 3.5 years later I still absolutely adore her. So I think it was destiny.

Yes - Chancer - Quite by Chance - just how I got him. Had been to view my perfect gypsy mare and on the way back stopped to see a stallion being sent to the US. Just saw him in the youngsters field, and knew he was the one. When I got him home and he stood next to Cairo knew why I had him - both have the same very kind expression.

Farra - was working late and did a quick browse on the internet for any clydesdales for sale - and she popped up - again the second photo of her made me knew she was the one.

So far though both double trouble 4 year olds, but they are the kindest natured hairy horses you could find and the gut instinct seems to have played off perfectly.
