Do you boot for turn out?

At the moment, yes. GreyDonkey is quite close behind and it's very slippy in the field at the moment so he wears brushing boots as a precaution. Having spent months battling with bacterial skin infections, I just don't want to take the risk of him knocking himself again and yet more cellulitis.

P.S. In addition, all three of them are playful . . . so monkeying about happens on a daily basis - even though all three of them are in regular work . . . just not worth the risk of injury leaving him without boots on behind.
 
It's been scientifically proven that boots can cause more harm than good so no I don't turn out with boots , however there are certain brands of boot that release heat from the leg so if ur going to boot I would use these type of boots
 
Used to boot all round when my gelding was out with a large and rough playing herd of about 10 horses.

When moved to a yard with heavy clay soil it was more detrimental to wear them than not and now at current yard is on individual t/o so not booted at all.
 
If they had been in for ages I might, and have put OR boots on those who lose shoes a lot, but otherwise I have to admit I would find it a bit odd to put a full set of boots on all the time for turnout... Still that doesn't mean I'd think someone was a disgrace! I'd probably just assume their horse was accident prone and they had good reason to do so.
 
All my horses wear turn out boots and over reach boots. They have never had mud rubs from them and they don't have hot legs when I take them off. They are ridden in boots or bandages and again, legs are just work warm not overly hot in anyway
 
A disgrace?! How strange!

I only use OR boots to prevent shoe pulling. One of mine used to loose at least 1 per month before using them (hasn't pulled one since) and decided prevention was better than cure with my new boy!

Each to their own though and yes, in your situation I'd probably fully boot up.
