Do You Care....

i wear sweats, hoodys and at least once a week i wear PJ's although i dont wear them for bed. i dont care at all as i have no one to impress! i am sure i look hot with seats, hoody, fleece hat, boots and feed, crap and slobber on me!

always wore boots & jods with whatever top & a coat if raining when I did Baron. Wellies if it was really boggy. And in my 7 years of riding, only ridden in jeans twice

Whilst working at the yard during the winter - I was waterproofed up to the eyeballs but still found bits of hay & straw in my bra on occasions and rubber from the arena

But yeah, normally smart, occasionally colour-coded and also found, the more I try to stay clean, the dirtier I get

Think it comes from working on a yard where we had to wear the yard t-shirt & navy jods and to always look clean and tidy. There attitude was and still is - smart staff & smart clean yard (yard was swept atleast twice a day) = a well run establishment as such.

TBH It is far too much hassle trying to keep clean so I just get stuck in and don't mind whether I am a smelly mess.

However I have a pair of bargain breeches for each day of the week if needed and cheap tops from tescos so I am not bothered what I smell or look like at the end of the day- it goes in the wash.

I'm part of the scruffy clan! I don't even ride in jods! I wear jeans mainly and and old sweatshirt. I attract mud and filth!

However when going to shows I turn into miss pristine! Everything matches, is neat and tidy. (This doesn't last long and by the time I am back home the tramp look is back in force!)

Why do white jods never stay white!

Hee Hee, I have my horses at home, and last summer was sprung by my mum feeding in a t-shirt and knickers, while my breeches were in the tumble dryer!
Generally I like to look smartish, but not to the excess some folk got to.
And I never buy the fashion wear on sale in tack shops, everything apart from my breeches comes from Makro sale rail!

Well, all these very clean & tidy people have got me feeling guilty ... I normally wear the same jods all week only washing them at the weekend!!

Have got a lesson later on tonight so you have shamed me into getting out a clean pair of jods and I'll even clean my boots.

Clean underwear daily is my vice! The rest doesnt bother me although I keep meaning to look 'smart' but it never seems to happen.

Mairi.

I always try to look tidy when riding anyones horses (inc my own) and almost always ride in breeches and long leather boots and hairnet(!) But for yard duties -whatever pair of jeans I find on the bedroom floor and a smelly fleece!
I have a particular Caldene jacket that is a pale orange colour, its much nicer than it sounds, and all the horses seem to slobber all over it gah!

Weekday mornings and eves in the winter its jogging bottoms, t shirt , rugby shirt and fleece - regardless. Then at the weekend the jods break out along with a reasonably co-ordinating top and jacket. Horses always have clean tack and equipment but not always so clean themselves lol as they all live out.

If I don't look like a tramp when I turn up (& I usually do) then I do within 5 minutes. I'm a dirt magnet & a horse hanky!

Oh this thread had made me laugh so much!!

When I had the horses at home, I regularly put feeds and haynets in, and skipped out wearing my dressing gown and wellies! But stables were 50 metres from backdoor so that did make it easier! To be fair though its probably not a good idea if you have to go to someone else's yard or drive/bike to get there though!!

Used to do the pony on the way to work before I had my little boy, so would turn up in scruffs with hair done and full makeup, put pony out in field, mucked out etc and then changed into work suit and heels in the car and raced off to work - that always used to get a laugh with the girls on the yard! Did forget my work shoes once though, so had to stop at Next and buy a new pair of heels on the way into work (work at v posh office, and wouldn't get away with the scruffy trainers I had in the car!!!)

I always wanted to be one of these very elegant people who always look good, but I never quite achieved it. I don't think I ever looked scruffy but never got the groomed image I wanted!!! This was particularly noticeable when I had a car accident on the way to the stables one January morning - had got up, fortunately had clean face, clean teeth and dragged a brush through my hair, but clothes were not shall we say coordinated - jogging bottoms, wellies and a fleece, plus a jacket that did need a wash (i wasn't riding that day, just mucking out, grooming etc, and the plan was to wash everything when I got back)!!

Was very embarassed, so now I always try to make a bit more of an effort (you never know what might happen!!!)!!!

I go to the yard covered in horse sh1t and pick my children up from school covered in horse sh1t and go back to the yard covered in it again. The other parents are so horified , they now nickname me worsel gummage. I dont mind, i dont have time for hair, make up and matching clothes...... god what an effort

On a morning I just shove a jumper and some trakkies over my pyjamas and im away, I dont even put my contacts in, just my glasses which I have had since I was 11 so there pretty outdated.
grin.gif
On an evening I look a bit better because I have been to school and make a nit of an effort to look like a girl then. Only a bit of mascara on and my hair in a knot though lol

These days I tend to go to the yard with the clothes that I am wearing all day.

I have my old coat and wellies down the yard and I chuck them on to do the horses, cow and chooks.

I keep my riding gear down there too.

I must add that I am not miss co-ordinated though. Some days I am quite tidy and others I have just thrown on the first top I find.

I do want to scrub up a bit more. I don't think you can beat the feeling of feeling well dressed and smart.

I also think it says a lot about someone's mental attitude too.

That is a whole new subject though. LOL
