Do you clean under rubbing matting?

i try to do mine once a year, but have known people to leave them down for years without cleaning under them.
My only advise is wear gloves & be prepared to require several showers to get the smell of you! Its not a nice job to do, but I feel much happier knowing they are nice & clean. You can get powders to sprinkle under the mats to help with the ammonia smells, which im guessing would make it more pleasant to clean out but iv not tried any of these.
Have fun if you do decide to do it! :)

;)I have had my matting down for about a year - should i take them up and wash floor underneath?

Rather than take them up I fold them in half, hose underneath then fold up the other half if that makes sense. Muck quicker, less messy and just as effective plus you can do it without getting the top surface soaking wet.

If your stable drains well you can just lift a corner, put the hose under and leave it running gently for a few minutes and it will do the job just as well.

Also a friend used to do hers once a week with a watering can filled with a dilution of Field Guard 'Green Gloop', again she would just lift a couple of mats. Not the cheapest disinfectant but the best for rubber and it lasted ages and smelt lovely!

I take all mine up and out the stable, scrub them with jeyes fluid and jet wassh them and jet wash and scrub the inside of the stable with jeyes and re paint them once a year, very labour intensive but wel worth it, looks good.
