just wondered whether peeps match their saddle clothes to exercise boots etc, i know it seems bit superficial but after recently getting new horse i can put boots on etc i'm quite interested, was thinking one set of white boots/saddlecloth for schooling and a coloured, less pricy set for hacking etc?

Usually I am fairly colour coordinated but I have just bought a navy saddle cloth and it desn't really match

I save the white for dressage comps!

The pony has a blue numnah to co-ordinate with my blue hoodie (sad, I know

). He doesn't wear exercise boots; I usually put a hi-viz band on one hind leg for schooling, so I can see his legs better in the mirror.

i dont bother about colour co-ordiation in the least, but it looks nice sometimes when its tastefully done

i tend to go for traditional dark colours for stuff myself, white's a bugger to keep looking good

bit of a traditionalist here, i have havana tack, brown numnahs and saddle cloths. My boots are all black. my horsey looks lovely, she is chestnut and suits her tack. She does have a hi viz pink ride on sheet though

But if you want to go wild and buy smart new stuff, it doesn't matter what others have. Happy shopping

Sounds good. Greys suit most colours I think, steel grey is lovely. Mine has gone lighter over the last 3yrs and her chestnut mums flecks seem to be coming out in her coat now.

Fudge who is a buckskin mostly has black, baby blue and grey. Lady who is chestnut mostly has hunter green and navy. I'm not really fused if things match but I only buy colours I like that don't look dreadful on my horses.

I like to co-ordinate for XC and jumpcross. I would say for schooling white is not best - white better for comps or id say serious dressage training to highlight legs.

Overall i say natural colours for training to suit horse and out on course i like my co-ordinated outfits to stand out!

I now have a dark chestnut and hes is in brown tack and brown saddlecloth with brown boots, plain suits him. his general rugs don't match but his travel and best rugs are all matching navy bue and silver. My old pony was a grey and he used to be a baby blue for most things hehe =D

I think it looks smart when they are all matching up but i do think white is good saved for comps =)

Have fun horsey shopping tho!!

Hmm ,this sounds a bit like women and cars, never mind the engine, what colour is it.Personally I think a black bridle goes well with a brown saddle.

you could be right on that one, if i could dress him in pink i would but my boyfriend just won't have it!!

following on from prev posts, just feel brown/black you'd barely see on my horse, hence white stands out lovely!!

I buy saddle cloths, numnahs, boots (the few I have) in black or navy - that way either horse can wear them, and they don't show the grime! FB has two navy dressage cloths, one plain, one with his name on in gold/yellow (they were on offer at HOYS a couple of years ago). All my tack is black. Rain sheets are navy. I do have one red and one blue grooming kit....

My pony came with all his traveling stuff being navy and red, so whenever I need to replace things (tail guards, fillet strings etc etc) or buy new (xc colours...) I always try to buy navy and red =D

I don't intentionally try to colour coordinate, but Murphy does compete in white tendon boots and a white numnah, which he looks quite smart in. At home he just wears black boots and either a black or white numnah, simply because the type of numnah that he has to wear only comes in black and white!

When I was younger, my palomino pony used to have all her travelling stuff and headcollars in royal blue. She didn't wear boots and I had a black personalised saddlecloth, but I did buy her a fancy royal blue browband... I then had to take it off for PC anyway!

I don't in general. Think it looks a bit naff.

I buy boots saddlecloths etc in black or white. That way everything is ok.

I slap on Pink Hi Viz.

Rugs/ headcollars etc get bought in the best fit. I don't care what colour they are as long as it works.

Having said that if there is a choice of colours in rugs/equipment I go for the navy option. This means I can see my stuff at a glance among the rest of the yard who insist on pink, purple, red, flowery etc!

I swear some of them just wait and then dress their ponies out of the Robinsons reject bin.

yes most of the time

for xc i have blue boots, with pink tape
a navy blue top with pink stars
and a navy blue hat silk with pink stars
and a blue or pink numnah

he also has a navy blue and pink leadrope to go with his leather headcollar for travveling, navy blue travel boots and a navy blue tail bandage!

and all the blues are sort of the same colour and so are the pinks

i sound like a right freak

then the white is saved for dressage only
all tack is brown
showjumping boots are white
i just need a green numnah now to match my tweed jacket and my green and cream checked stock

i know exactly what i want just cant find it

I buy everything in black, white or red so it all co-ordinates whatever I decide to dress her in that day.

Most of my riding clothes are in the same colours. All of her rugs are either black or red, too.

I'm not obsessive about it, it's just that if I need a new item I'll always seek out one that matches things we already have rather than buying a random colour.

I like to look smart and discreet when hacking - I wouldn't go out in a pink saddlecloth, green jodhpurs and a coloured hat silk - yuck!

I do not intentially colour coordinate, I just prefer things to be blue. I like blue and it suits my grey by accident.

I do not need to make my things easy to differentiate at the yard, rugs are 7'3", bridle is xx full and bit is 6.5", saddle is xxxx wide.

I really cant stand this fashion for pink and purple horse stuff, patterns and glitter etc. is it a horse or a my little pony toy?

Me too, Cappy, a chestnut, has Havana tack and brown or white numnah. Fany, a bay roan, has all black. White boots for Cappy, no boots fit Fany!
