Do you ever fantasise about other horses?

How many of you already have a horse(s) but find yourself browsing Horsemart, Horsequest etc fantasizing about your ideal horse? I do love my boy, I’ve only had him 7 months, he was very nervous when I first got him, much better now and our bond/trust is getting deeper and he is the sweetest chap, not a bad bone in him. I know there’s no such thing as the perfect horse but I wish mine:- was much braver (he tends to be cautious/hesitant and scares quite easily and needs encouragement, not a natural leader – I have to hack alone most of the time so its something we’re working on but sometimes it gets tiresome and I wish he was an unflappable, forward going type) and that he was bombproof in traffic (he’s very scared of tractors/bit nervous of huge lorries – our yard is next to a very busy main road which we have to ride along to get to better hacking and there are tractors everywhere around us though to be fair he’s only 7 and I think quite a young 7, he came over from Ireland and I don't think he's seen much heavy traffic) and finally that he was a bit bigger (he’s 15hh – obviously not his fault but I searched the country for a decent 15.2hh but couldn’t find one).

For example, I’ve seen on Horsemart http://www.horsemart.co.uk/advert/7_yrs_15_2_hh_bay_irish_sport_horse_dorset/76530
or this one http://www.horsemart.co.uk/advert/13_yrs_15_2_hh_skewbald_irish_draught_x_essex/76866
or this one

and this one

Frustratingly there seem to be loads about now and IF they are as described, they are exactly what I wanted but couldn’t find anywhere when I was looking and annoyingly I’m now in a position where I have more of a budget too. Pointless post really but I sometimes wonder is this normal, does everybody do this or do you think you would only do this if you had the wrong horse?

Yeah - I didn't really get to choose Scooby (it was pure luck that he fell into my lap, I wasn't looking to buy/loan a horse at the time) and if I had actually been horse-shopping at the time, I would've been looking at 15.2-16.2hh ploddy, confidence-giving schoolmasters. Instead I got a 14.2hh gypsy cob who's very forward going, has the manouvreability of a 10-tonne lorry and took off with me the first time I rode him in more than a walk.

I wouldn't have him any other way though, I absolutely adore him.

But I do still occasionally find myself looking longingly at 16hh horses on Horsemart....

Yes, but only cos I'd love a whole yard full! I'm very happy with George so wouldn't want tochange him at all, I'd just love a HOYS show cob, small hunter, dressage school master, small coloured traditional ...... and a lottery win!!!!

Yes, about 20 times a day

The yard where I'm at has lots of horses coming in to be sold, and they also organise an upper-end auction every year, so it's way too easy for me to fall in love with a number of horses and dream on... Unfortunately they all seem to come with awful price tags

I have a TB and a welsh / arab pony, both of whom I love to bits .... but I also dream of having ....

A hunter / show cob

A cremello - I just love them. The first pony I ever rode was a cremello, and then my very 1st loan pony was too so I have a real soft spot for them...

This one is just stunning!!

Then I'd like this one as my event horse ...

And then ... I'd like a proper big irish cob!!

^ love the ferro mare, tabithakat. It's funny how there are regional trends in popular bloodlines - lots of lovely ferro horses in Scotland.

The horse I fantasise about is one on the yard who's a youngster.

When we were looking for a horse, she seemed far too young and too big a project and a bit backwards so "sensibly" bought a schoolmistress who cost the same.

Fast forward on a year and a bit... she's doubled in price now, absolutely stunning, forward and gives an incredible ride... same mentality as my current mare but a hand bigger (e.g. the right size) and I WANT.
