Do you ever realise that you just can't ride?

*sucks air through her teeth* ow wowowowowowow!!!! Nnnnyeah, that would put me off for a while too... were you ok??

Yes, I'm ok now but could not bend any part of my back and had to slide out of bed for weeks and then ended up in the same position but on the floor, had to get farrier out of bed to pull me up (sloooowly) and *whispers* put my knickers and trousers on for me... (On me that is- not him )

Man up! :D

I've got some in my car, I'll bring them over :p

I think what you need is a good crash test dummy to come and knacker out all your beasts and then you can get on when they've stopped being pillocks - yes?

If you could bring several packs of those and also some alcohol when you come to crash test them. After you have ridden them all I couldn't possibly get on, the poor dears will be sooo tired (see how good I am at excuses??)

Right. That's it. C'mon FL!!! Grab a handful of xspiralx's MAN-UP pills and take with a good swig of Pale Cream. I mean a GOOD SWIG!!!!

Get your backside ON that flippin' horse of yours and tell it who runs the place. Roar!!!!

You CAN bloody well ride, I've seen you (in your sig, not in RL). You ride like a sporting princess. I can only think some nasty gnome has come in the night and taken away that riding mojo. I'm sure there's more where that came from so, I order you to straddle, sit tight and make that horse do your bidding woman! (Who DO they think they are? Enormous pets?)

In fact, that goes for all of you!!!

p.s. xspiralx - you got enough to go round?

I wish the bloody riding mojo grome would just shut the heck up and give it back! I can't even get on my potential polocrosse pony (away being professionally trained) as I haven't yet seen him being ridden and being nice and calm and I am meant to be playing in a tournament in TWO WEEKS!!

I have been offered a nice quiet polopony to buy very cheaply too but can't have it until one or both of the for sale ones go *stamps foot*

All you other folk- I bet you all ride waaay better than me in any case, you'll be fine :)

Just not me :(

This thread makes me feel sooooo much better, lol! I consider myself a pretty substandard rider, sometimes I can just be total crap. I swear I was much better when I was 15, I'm only 24 now but still wouldn't do some of the things I used to do then!

Yes, its a horrid place to be, then you look at some people and think well I know my seat is better than that, why can't I get the results I'm striving for and at the end of the day maybe its mostly down to lack of self belief instead of actually lack of skills? Who knows but I hate feeling like this too :-(

All of those things can be arranged. ;)

Once you get back on the ginger ninja and play some polocrosse you'll remember why you bother with the mangy beasts :D

tallyho! - yes I have unlimited stocks of man up pills, for every possible occasion :p

Oh dear not funny, been there myself and its hell, but had to lol at that thought of your other half in your knickers and trousers, bless you and us all - we've got to keep our sense of humour at least!!!

I think that too until I see people riding these sorts and they are difficult to get going and don't like jumping and so I don't want that type of horse either as they not that easy to ride!

I get really frustrated with myself sometimes.

I appear to have forgotten how to ride. I keep falling off and now I am nervous about getting on. I couldn't get my mare to trot instead of canter sideways and then my friend got on and she was fine. I need a rocking horse or a half dead 40 year old cob. Bleurgh :(

Can I just say... These are my horses;

One who jumps like this..

One who looks like this..

But makes me do this..

And the last one (that I still ride) makes me so tense that I cannot even do this anymore..

Help me please? Does anyone have a rocking horse that I can swap one for?

I know ive never been a good rider :D ...... i just enjoy it so i dont care what people think of me :)

ets - i dont cause my horse any harm except great amusement as she tries to plant me on the ground by bucking :D

I leave the riding part to my 12 year old daughter now as she is better than me:p
Her favourite saying is "Man up, get some nuts" as she seems to like naughty ponies! Her definition of a good ride is falling off less than 3 times:D

A hahahaaaa!!! Kids and naughty ponies.. them were the days...

It's a shame our rubbery bones harden off and our muscles stop stretching n stuff...

I remember lying on the ground, having failed miserably to actually mount the pony, and thinking "I'm getting too old for this." And that was five years ago

Not sure who was laughing most, child or pony :D:cool:

oh all the time - especially when I make an unplanned dismount or lose my balance coming over a jump

It got to the stage where I would shake with nerves hours before a jumping lesson and my horse is a saint but hey-ho..

I seem to have stopped bouncing when I hit the deck :p

When I fell off the daughter's pony jumping, hitting the jump wing then the floor finished off with said pony jumping me and only just missing, all she could do was laugh, I couldn't get out of bed right for over a week!
I did however manage to get back on pony straight after and the next day, it actually hurt less being on him than trying to walk:eek:

I know I can't ride, started riding as a kid, stopped as a teenager then bought a horse at 26. Never had a riding lesson in my life, read Horse and Pony and used friends pony to practise. Learnt mostly on my beloved rescue horse who was a sod when I first got her, had me off several times till I learnt to stay on and stay 1 step ahead of her tantrums, she remained quirky till she died. If anyone 'professional' saw me ride they'd be horrified. I know I'm pants but I enjoy it, love my horses, got my first youngster last year and am thoroughly enjoying him and we're doing pretty well I think. I do sometimes look at proper riders and yearn to be able to ride like that, but I'm just a happy hacker really with no ambitions to be anything more than that.
