What it would be like to sit on a really talented horse?

Ok so I know a lot of you have really talented horses, and don’t get me wrong Bodey is wonderful but I do sometimes wonder what it would be like to sit on something that could jump 5ft like Bodey jumps 2ft. I would probably be jumped off anyway!

Sorry for the random post, just having one of those days.

Yes and then I come to my senses.

I wouldn't want to jump 5ft which is why I bought Daisy. Being that far off the ground on a strange horse would petrify me.

I would like to ride a more schooled version of Daisy though to get a feel for what a cob is like when they're working from behind. I've ridden TBxID schoolmasters but D is such a different horse to ride that I can't seem to translate the sensation

Yeah you are right, I brought Bodey because I needed my confidence back and he has done that and so much more! It is nice to have a horse that I can say, ‘I fancy SJing today’, or ‘I fancy hacking today’, and not thinking twice about it.

I think my problem is I keep thinking about wanting to event, and really not sure if it’s really just pipe dreams.

Ellie is a lot more talented than I will ever be, dont get me wrong - but I wouldnt say she is the sort of horse that would give someone the instant WOW factor, if you know what I mean! She's too spooky, too erratic; she would probably feel like a three year old even to a top rider!

I've actually been lucky enough to sit on a horse who was mega talented. My SJ trainer produced her from a five year old; she was placed top four at HOYS twice, and was the top horse in points league for the 7 year old championship. He let me warm her up when I was grooming for him at a show at Hurstbourne....all I can say is WOW! She was so powerful, so responsive, and unlike any horse I have ever been on before, or am likely to again. She was a lovely girl; he sold her on in the end for the price of several top of the range Oakley Supremes; I believe she is in Switzerland now!

I've ridden a couple of top horses and it certainly is a fantastic feeling and makes you understand just what you are trying to achieve with your own horse.

However, having said that the horses were top at their individual sport and not a good all rounder who can do a bit of everything like my mare! She's a jack of all trades and master of none!
