...wish you had something then have heart attack when you get it!!??!!

I'm sort of getting this with Blade, I always wanted a horse I could event and do pretty much anything on. I couldnt afford one so I bred one myself, hence 5 yrs on I've got my lovely lad! The problem is (not really a problem to some of you but it is a bit to me!!) that now we're jumping he's taking the p a bit (lots actually!!). He loves it!! And I mean to the stage he just wants to jump bigger and faster every time!

I wanted to make sure I bred something that could jump but with a bit of bone so I got a pretty smart jumping/pc mare and put her to an ID that jumps like a stag. Great combo but now I'm finding that he's outjumping me already and we've only jumped a few times! Feel a bit gutted about it because I wanted to start off small and grow with him, no such luck! If the jumps are less than waist height (about 2 1/2 - 3 ft) he takes me over them that fast I can only just stay on!! Little sod run off with me yesterday over the jumps! He's an angel to school and never gets worked up but jumping, god is he a beast!!! I'll never sell him on and I'm quite sure I'll get used to him but its a pretty hairy time at the mo!!! Just thought I'd share that with you!

So have you ever wished you had something (like a jumper!!!) then thought maybe you shouldnt have wished for it!!??!!

Yes, a horse! My current horsy causes me no end of stress and worry and I'm always skint! Much better idea to help with other peoples, all the fun with half as much of the responsibility & commitment! (Bit like having kids I suppose!)

Just jump big jumps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get some good lesson s now if this is worrying you before it gets worse, you are going to have a great time with this horse but just take a step back and make sure basics are correct.
I wished for a great horse I got one but as we went up the grades I couldn't afford the lessons and travelling and competing and eventually sold him to someone who could afford it.

Had exactly the same thing except I bought a foal with the idea of producing it and continuing to event.
By the time I had waited three years, I was older and not so brave and I ended up with a seriously talented little event horse and no balls to jump it.
Cue OH who took over the ride and did a fab job at BYEH classes. I was so gutted that I had waited all that time and spent a lot of money and couldn't actually do it myself. However I side-stepped into the role of owner and got lots of pleasure from that.
Good luck - your leaving the ground which is more than I was happy doing!

I have been jumping the bigger jumps with him, the thing is he's jumping bigger than I jumped before I broke my back!!! He's honest though which is a good thing!

I'm having lessons on him now, its my instructor who put the jumps up to make him look, I came round the corner and nearly had heart attack!! haha!!!

I wasnt moaning about it in my post, I love the fact that he wants to do it and wouldnt swap him for the world! We also had our first gallop on Saturday! The more I ride him the more I love him!! Never had a horse give me so much!!

I'm getting all soppy now!! haha!!!

I'll post some pics after the weekend to give you a laugh!!

Sounds like you have a very bold, talented horse!
I would get a good instructor on the ground to help you at this stage....Because horses that often rush their fences can sometimes lose confidence and start refusing. So best get some help so that you both stay confident? I am sure if you have some support you will be fine.

Thank you! I'm going to try a couple of instructors too so that I find the one best for us, its just fab to be sitting on something I know can jump! Cant wait to get some pics, might wait to see an improvement first though!!

Yes, would love to see some pics. Must be so great to have bred him yourself! He'll be great for cross country as he is so bold!

Ive always wished for a stallion....And although Jed is'nt entire he certainly acts like it. Balshy, bossy, moves like one in and out of the saddle and he is as bold as one.
I dont regret wishing for one though. I love him more than anything. And i dont think i would change him for a proper stallion!

I had this wish too and kept him entire as long as i could, till he learnt to jump out of his field that is!!! would have loved to have kept him entire as he was no probs to handle but it wasnt fair on anyone riding past our place, he could have got out and caused trouble, wasnt worth the risk!! am having loads more fun with him now too, he still loves the ladies though!!
