Do you ever......

wish you had a schoolmaster/mistress type horse that no matter what your riding faults were it never tried to take the p*ss at every available opportunity?

Is there such a horse?

After spending 45 mins in the school this morning getting completely frustrated with myself for riding like a complete numpty

I sat dreaming of what it would be like

Until Monty decided to wake me up by napping to the gate

go for it....
Go rap him up in some brown paper with a first class stamp, he should arrive by monday

!!! Hehe!

I'd love to ride one - but I don't think i would buy one (if there is such a thing!)

Frankie sometimes makes me feel like I can't ride, when he has his 'moments' but he has taught me to be a better rider at the end of the day!! The days where I am crying after riding are becoming less and less

I couldn't have done it without my lessons lol!!

isnt it the school masters that take the P..s as they are wiser and clever and know all the tricks needed!! you think your in total control and have a lovely contact,, i bet you dont,, they kno all the evading techn's needed.... would rather have a green naive horse i could convince he wanted to do it than try and outwit a old schoolmaster type!!

Frequently, although it comes second to my desire to have a horse that can stay sound and not continually injure herself by hooning around.

At the end of the day though Daisy was sold to me as bordering on unrideable and only fit for meat. She's now a lovely horse, has been placed at dressage, hacks alone or in company and behaves herself out hunting. I know that I did all that and when we do compete it gives be the biggest sense of achievement when she beats a horse that someone bought ready made

Absolutely! That's April. She is a wiley old thing.
She tries the blatant evasions such as bucking, little hops in trot that would unseat a novice and napping and if she discovers you can ride through them then she switches into doing passive sneaky evasions such as going round like a snail, trying to cut corners and all those tricks to ensure she does as little work as possible!
I have learned LOADS on her LOL. Much more than I did on my other horses who were greener but so willing.
April can work beautifully but I have to demand it (unless we are at a show or lesson and she goes into poser mode

)

LOL stropster, they really do think they know best once they pass a certain age
grin.gif

I think April had been a little over schooled as she was very sour and miserable when I started riding her.
She's great now though and enjoys her life, she hasn't really jumped much and gets thoroughly over excited when we do which used to be terrifying with the leaping (like in my sig) but now I am used to her it's brilliant and lovely to see her having fun

Was Monty having issues today?

I often think it would be nice then I realise I would be very bored as Bane's quirks and tantrums are part of who he is. We all have bad days in the school where we think we can't ride - sometimes you need to stop and take a breather (or maybe a quick hack) and then try again.

I have been constantly complaining that I wish I had a lovely schoolmaster for the past 6 weeks whilst my horse has been misbehaving at every given opportunity!!

BUT....in the past week he has transformed, is behaving himself and working beautifully so I'm loving him at the moment!
