Hi, I am currently undertaking research to find out which chaff is the most efficient at slowing down a horses rate of consumption hence optimising primary digestion and uptake of all the nutrients in the feed.

none - neither needs extra. If they need a few more cals then they get some speedi beet added to their chaff. They both get pink powder everyday so they get their vits and minerals. The chaff is just a carrier for this.

I'm not sure on this - my horse seems to eat everything at the same speed. Her feeds with chaff last longer than those without, but only because they are bigger!

My mare gets Alfa A. The other horse doesn't have any chaff as her feeds are already quite large, and she doesn't bolt her food anyway.
Both have sugar beet. I use speedibeet -the other horse has normal soaked SB nuts

Other - she likes it and it disguises the supplements she has

Mine gets Pasture mix. The other has Cool mix and barley. Both also have sugar beet.

They are fed Simple Systems greengold and just grass chaffs with speedibeet and supplements of linseed, black sunflower seeds, vit and min supplement and the essential carrots.

Other - I like my horses fed on forage only diet which provides what they need to kept condition and stamina when worked
