Do you think some riders wind a horse up without meaning to, as in a horse can be fizzy with one rider but not with another just by sitting on them and not doing anything visably (sp) different?
I have heard it be said before that some riders have an electric bum.

I always used to be known for getting just about anything going :o but funnily enough, we had a 13.2 mare that was always on the go, used to canter sideways down the lane with my mum rather than walk! I was about the only person who could just got on her, drop the reins and she'd plod down the lane all the way home nice and quiet! xD Never quite worked that one out...

Oh yes :D my YO has an electric bum!

And an electric voice, electric hands.... electric aura I think - everything, bless her! :p All the horses go nuts when she appears. A couple of years ago I had a few days hunting on her whipping in horse. He behaved perfectly in the field and no one could believe it was the same horse - he is usually leaping about all over the place with her.

Odd she reacted so differently, I find all ponies i get on seem to be fizzy but not really horses, my mums pony is slow with her in the school but i get on and she is no longer ploddy.

Yep. My sister has the best of both worlds. Horses seem to take to her like she's a long-lost friend and she can get the best out of most horses. She can quieten a horse down but also gee one up when needed.

I'm actually rather jealous of her :p :D

yup, II have an electric bum butonce you know what kind of seat you have, its easy enough to adjust it if you're making the horse too hot!

Think I might've had leccy knickers on yesterday. I rode two horses -- one a 16 yo cob mare and she was challenging my friend's ex-racer the whole way home with a jig and a jog and rather crabby that she didn't get a gallop. After that I had a lesson on a pony that I've ridden several times - he's a sharp pony anyway but I was getting a lesson and I know he was gettin tired toward the end. Last canter transition we were GOING to ask for and it went bronc bronc bronc - I stayed in the plate while my instructor and friend laughed until they turned nearly blue! :/ LOL
