I'm not sure if I am just a sad muppet, but I get soooooo excited about riding Star!

We do something everyday, schooling, hacking or groundwork and I go to bed at night feeling like it's going to be Christmas the next day. I just love Star so much, she is amazing and we improve every day. Then I get up in the morning and can hardly wait to get out and see her.

Does anybody else's horse have this effect on them?

Or am I just a saddo!!

I didn't used to get excited about riding til I got my Arab and now every day is like getting on a new horse! You never know quite how she's going to be and you're guaranteed at least one drama on every ride, she'll find something to have a fit about whether it;s the combine harvester or a squirrel running up a tree, it's great!

I coudln't' go back to riding a sensible horse, I love my moody Arab far too much.

I just find it really strange, people at my yard don't ride for months on end because they say they can't be bothered. You can't keep me away from my horse!

I ride most days and I'm always gutted if I can't ride for whatever reason. I wouldn't say I get excited about riding on a daily basis, but I do get excited about going xc, having lessons, going on a long hack...and when he's good and a ride goes well it gives me a great feeling - like you say, it's like Christmas

My horse is also capable of setting off depression though, when he's naughty!!!

Me too!! I love my horse

He's so awesome and such a character. I get very excited about riding but if I can't ride/he has the day off, I still love going to see him and giving him a brush etc, even if he is grumpy when being groomed!!

I love riding my arabx too- thinks its the thrill of the unpredicable! I love the way he shows off and I know he's enjoying himself. He had an injury last year and was on box rest for 12 weeks and I hated not being able to ride him. I had my OH cob mare to ride, but it just wasnt the same. I also had a couple of goes on other liveries horses, just becuae they offered and out of interest, but that wasn't the same either.
I wasnt sure he was going to get better, or be able to be ridden again. Fortunately he made a full recovery, so now I ride and appreciate him much more than ever before, we started showing in-hand and this weekend im doing a ridden class on him....so excited, I know hes looking good and going well, but his temperament dictates that just about anything could happen...aaaaarrrrrgggghhh!!!

Yes I do, I day dream at work and if its a particularly nice day, I keep going over to the window and imagine galloping over the hills in the distance.

I particularly get excited because J has had so many injuries over the past 20 months that it was said he wouldnt be rideable so every time I ride its even more special.

I just need to think about doing something and J does it. I love him to bits

depends whether he's being good or whether he's having one of his 'phases'. When he's cooperating with me and we've had a good ride I can't wait to get back on again, but when he's been naughty sometimes I dread starting the battle again, it can be so frustrating and depressing!

I ride at a riding school once every couple of weeks and I get stupidly excited about going for my half hour lesson. On Fridays I can often be seen bouncing in my office squeaking something about going riding the next day!

I do most of the time - when I'm being normal - at the moment I don't feel myself so I'm struggling to find any sort of motivation!!!!!!!

I get excited about grooming him and pampering him and all that kinda stuff and thats before I'm even tacked up!

but sometimes it also depends on how tired I am, by the time I finish work, get home and changed then drive back up to the livery yard rushing about only to find that the menage is busy and have to wait for ages....then the excitement slowly dies down!

I cant ride any of mine atm, but I do get excited about going to see them every day and I love grooming them etc.

I do loose schooling with my big mare, which is fun. Normally because she just races around like a loony. When she does her flashy trot or canter I get excited about being able to ride her, not so much when she bucks though lol.

I had been having a really un-motivated time over last winter - but at the moment I have started being able to hack my mare out on my own now - and we are both really enjoying it. Its really exciting for me as I had at one point said I was never going to ride this mare again - but its so lovely to see her happy big ears when we go out hacking now. Bless her!

Yay! Nice to see I'm not the only one! Thought I was just being a big kid. After 30ish years of having horses you would think the fascination would wear off (well I think that's what my Mum hopes!)

Ah well, had my dinner and now I can start planning what we'll do tomorrow!

I get excited too when I think about what I am going to do with Finella the following day. I especially love my lessons and I think about the next week's lesson as soon as the current week's one is over. Daft eh? I sometimes wonder if I should stop thinking of horses all the time but I enjoy it so I don't think I could stop even if I wanted to.

By the way I have a lovely picture that PF did for me on my bedroom wall so the first thing I see before going to sleep and when waking up is my pony

No I never get excited about riding any horses regardless of whether they are mine or someone elses.

I enjoy riding my own horses, some more than others, but I never get excited about it.

I ride in the mornings and its the best thing for getting me out of bed, i am dead keen to go and see him and go for a ride, whatever the time of year or the weather, sometimes the dog and the OH are still tucked up in bed when i get back and before horses, i would have been in there with them, if he is being a prat i am till keen to get there and do something with him even its its only a brush and tickle
