Do you get scared when your horse bucks/rears/bolts/bronchos/tanks off?

Not any more. I've had him 7 years and am so used to his "quirks" that they don't fuss me any more, I just sit it out. Saying that, he's never properly bolted with me, and has only done a couple of little rears, both times because he got a fright so I don't know how I'd react to that.

Any other horse doing the same as he does sometimes would probably scare me rigid, it's just because I know Dylan so well.

He rarely has any silly moments, so he doesn't scare me at all really. I just get abit angry if it's for no apparent reason, haha. Or I just laugh it off if he's being a pansy.
Other horses which I don't know as well though yes I do scare quite easily tbh. Don't really know how to overcome this haha.

it totally depends on ur experiences i think. i used 2 sit on anything and felt nothing wud bother or scare me. then i had a horse that reared bolt upright A LOT! the rearing wasnt nice but didnt actually worry me i jus focused on keepin balance. she was v.practiced at it and knew how far she cud go. however one day id literally jus got on and has no stirrups or anything when she reared and i fell and broke my leg. she fell too, on the road. i was so lucky she didnt land on me. once my leg was better i cudnt wait 2 ride again but it had scared me more than i thought. rode a friends schoolmaster and he went to stop to look at something and i went 2 pieces cos i thought he'd rear (my old pony used 2 stop still and then rear!). finally getting over it but has taken a long time and i have had many tearful moments wiv horses bouncing, slight rearing as it feels like a massive rear to me.
however my newest horse reared the other day. 1st time in like 4 yrs. hav no idea what about. he spooks a lot but normally jus spins round which i hav got used to. he has bounced slightly but never reared like that. he went right up and that is no exageration. i thought we were both gona fall never mind me and was jus thinkin S**t what do i do! he then landed and jus stood there like nothin happened. that scared me, jus rode in different part of arena but my mum was watchin n she was so scared. she said if i'd wanted 2 get off and not ride him again she'd hav said thats fine. i jus thought i've managed 2 stay on so im not gettin off now and made him get on wiv what we were supposed 2 b doin as were at competition.
he has bucked me off into oblivion b4. he gets excitable in canter sometimes. normally in transitions so i try to do walk to canter 1st as hes more controlled like that. dont know if it makes a difference 2 him but i feel safer!
havent had horse bolt on me b4.
i think it all depends what ur used to and knowing ur horse plus safety of environment! has horse rearing over a car bonnet and was so scared cudnt put it into woirds!

Yup s**t scared... don't mind fly bucks and small half rears or bolting I just sit this out but the real bronch 'I mean to get you off' bucks that go on and on and vertical 'I may go over backwards' rears... really gives me brown trousers...

My horse used to have quite a severe bucking problem when he was younger, not through pain or anything as we had it checked out, just exhuberance! Although it was never enough to unseat me, it cetrainly broke a few other peoples bones (also the reason I got him so cheap).
I don't think any of those things you mention scare me, as I know as a rider I can cope, and help teach the horse that thats simply not the right thing to do!

I sat every one of those except bolting just yesterday. A lot of it depends on the horse and its motives. My horse is not trying to dump me - it's all high spirits and youth. Still unacceptable but not nearly as scary as a horse that's determined to get rid of you.

As for how to stop it, I think that also depends on the motives. I've never dealt with a malicious bucker. With my mare, when she bucks I get her head up and disengage her hindquarters, then I ask her to do whatever it was that I'd asked her to do when she began bucking. Same with rearing or tanking off (though with rearing, she gets a sharp crack of my whip). I don't mind energy but insist it comes out as controlled forward energy, not straight up and down!

If a horse loses its sense of self preservation then that scares me - whether bolting, going over backwards, throwing itself about on a cliff edge etc. It's not so much the fear of falling as the fear of the horse coming down on top of me. I can sit most things so long as the horse is still upright.

since my horse bolting and attempting to jump out over a 5 bar gate and resulting me to crack my ribs, yess im scared lol. need to get my confidence back :(

I have always been taught that if a horse rears up with you that you get your whip and turn it around and hit the horse on the poll with your whip (the handle end) i know it sounds extreame but if you let your horse rear up it will start to think that rearing is okay. Also if the horse bucks or bolts all that i do is sit up and smile the horse will get bored eventually :)
