Do you hack your 'show' horse?

Which month were you born in?

All of ours hack out as much as possible - most of them go to Windsor Park the day before a show (was a real pain when it was closed because of FMD). Most of them hack out onto a very busy main road during the week. We try to avoid doing much school work with the older horses. Some of ours live out 24/7 as well.

I love to hear people that compete making sure their horses have as natural as exsistence as they can when they're not competing. There's a 3 day eventer near us (apparently) who keeps her's out 247

None are mine, I have nil patience when it comes to showing but I often get rides on Becs at the shows all the way upto county level, all are hack, two of her placed county workers are both hunted through the winter and most do the hunter trials.

Chancer is only starting out being ridden. He will eventually do a bit of everything, though I do enjoy showing.

At the end of the day, they can have an accident and end up with scars in the field as easily if being hacked or competing at something else.

I like mine to be as natural as possible - he is now like a shaggy dog, covered in mud and show condition dropped off. Come February will be clipped out and will put a little weight and more muscle on ready for April shows.

They need to see the world or will have a heart attack at a show, IMHO, boots all round and avoid idiots on the roads when possible. I love hacking.

pretty much as often as possible- at least 4 times a week.
Long varied hacks with differing fitness work.
She loves a change of scenery and so do i.
Both her and I would be bored rigid if we didnt get out.
