LOl! I only remember it cos I was in shock at clearing it for the rest of the course!!

very well done I say,
I have since put various feed bags in fences int he field at home, I hope he remembers they are not there to surprise him, just to sail straight over!!
Don't mind most of the ones people have talked about, although big ditches in front of fences can be a bit intimidating when I walk the course it's normally alright when I get there as my blood is up. No, mine is steps out of water, especially if follwed by a jump. I've seen so many horrible trips up steps out of water, horses just seem to misread them sometimes
It has only actually happened to me once (so far
) and that was xc xchooling at Downlands with Yogi B, and he just said "Come round and do it again" and even though I was petrified to do so I was even more petrified of him, so I did as I was told and it was fine the next time but I still hate them
I hate steps out of water - they are so hard to get right. I also hate skinny to corner or double of corners on a curving line. I know they are my fault as never turn quickly enough to them.
Big drops into water, always worried we will go swimming and steps out of water, my boy lost his confidence tripping up a step out of water and it took a long time to get it back.
Nothing really on the xc, possibly coffins since i have been schooling as tink went abit sticky but she was fine at the massive one at Isleham, My problem is showjumping.
! there are so many nasty things that could happen and i just really don't understand why a horse would want to jump it?! and this is why i will never be an eventer................ (because i am a total wuss
I make sure that if there's something with a socking great big ditch in front of it, I stand at the edge of the ditch and look at the top rail of the fence. Otherwise you stand there peering into the bottom of it, and by the time your eye has gone from the bottom of the ditch to the top of the fence it might as well be 50ft high as it looks so huge.
Mind you, the one at Blenheim, known in the old days as the TNT Flyer, had the long route as riding through the bottom of the ditch, so I was never going to be able to kid myself that that was a teeny ditch, was I?
Jumps over something into water - only attempted once and not exactly a success. Young pony's first attempt also over a fairly sized log - she decided jumping off all fours in a rather unorthodox fashion was the way such a fence should be tackled and I ended up on the floor - well in the water!

Me too that just looks really scary and i can never imagine Blue working out to jump over the gap and over the hedge on the other side, we would most probably end up splatted into the hedge, or i would anyway!
I think Tia would decide into the ditch is the best option and then sneak round the back - do you think that is allowed?! surely they would give her marks for initative (sp)
Baydale - i like your plan of not looking down into the ditch but it still looks massive to me!! I saw a similar fence on a intro xc course and scared the livng day-lights out of me!
I don't like steps out of water, because, as TD said, easy for them to misread it. Esp. With a jump after - seen so many horses focus on fence and miss step!!

Also, open corners - I can't stand them.

Don't like steps out of water mine always seem to take off too close!
i don't like jumps in the water, i can never get my horse going enough in the water, and then the jump is horrible.
Also corners.. i have a thing about them, have always hated them.
Roof fences I dont mind them but my horse hates them!
I managed to do my first proper roof jump first time at Aldon three day event and looking back at the vid she is REALLY looking at it from a long way out! Had to give her lots of verbal encouragement but she was fab!!
I dont know why but think that she thinks she might hit her head - silly mare!
