Do you have a favourite breed? If so what is it?

My life wouldn't be complete with a Spaniard now. Absolutely love them as a breed. Such fantastic horses to work with and so gentle. Love my PRE.
After that, I'd have to go for a Welsh D x Arab. One of the prettiest, sturdiest ponies I ever had the joy of owning, and what an attitude 😂

I haven't been without an Arab for 25 years now, so I guess you could say I like them.
I also am quite addicted to Pasos.

Spanish blood for me. Either Iberians (PRE, Luso...) or the South American breeds (Criollos, Chileans etc). I love their carriage and work ethic.

We are finally starting to look around for our first pony, given I'm 5'4, hubby is 5'6 and therefore kiddo is not going to amount to much more..

Fells. I have fallen in love with shaggy ponies.

We're in Durham, it seems logical and I just want to hug them!

New Forest - great personality and sane to ride especially like forest born ones as they have seen a bit more of life. A welsh B / arab cross is a nice cross too.

Dales for me.
I like the hairy tanks type so Highlands follow closely.
At just 5ft and weighing more than I'd like a short weight carrier is my choice.

My pony of a lifetime was Welsh X Arab, so anything of that breeding is a winner for me. She was highly opinionated, very quick, very clever, and totally bombproof. We did PC games, and don't think I steered down the bending race once, just pointed her at the poles and held on! I could gallop round the field flat out, have her dancing on the spot, then get off and hoist my little brother on, and off she'd go like a beach donkey.

I do like an ID type, though. And working heavy horses just take my breath away

I think Irish horses are fantastic. ID part or full and Connemaras part or full.

I also absolutely without a doubt adore highlands.

These are the two types I've always had and always will have!

I have to say the Irish horses too, ID, IDx and ISH, as both my horses have been this type and they really are such good eggs.

I love connies and also TBs crossed with IDs or connies. Also had a lovely looking TB/QH who was stunning to look at and so comfortable to ride. Not keen on WBs but I think having one that was "tricky" has made me rather biased. Actually, I always go for temperament and suitability for the job rather than breed so have had rather a mixed bunch over the years.

My favourites are Arabs because they are so graceful, but also love ID's and Welsh Section D's because of their dependability. I've had good experience with all of them. :)

I like quite a variety: Halfingers, Anglos, Quarter Horses, Appendix Quarter Horses and Appaloosas - specifically bay blanket spots! However, I currently have a Trad Cob. If I could make him into a QH I'd be ecstatic, do love him though! ;)

New Forest Ponies - learnt to ride at a NF stud, now ride in the forest on pure and part bred NFs.
I'm more attracted to colour than breed though! My current pony is an Appy x NF, black and white leopard spot. A ****** to keep clean but so so so pretty when he is :')

After nearly 45 years of being a total slave to the needs of horses I have to say.... Spanish, Arabs ,connies, cobs, welshie then highlands. But overall the breed that seems to me to be the most rooted in existence is Spanish and Arab... They get humans, they are the most gentle clever hosses on the planet. Everything else evolved from them. Just my opinion :-)
Love them all though, whatever their breed!

Appaloosa every time. Got the first one sort of by accident thirty years ago and currently have a nineteen year old and a five year old :) Sis prefers heaier built types, but I'll stick with the spotties :)
