I hope this is okay to post on here! I collect old toy horses. If you have a box of them in your attic that you don't want anymore then I might be interested in buying them from you :) My riding opportunities are quite limited right now due to covid so I'm getting back into collecting models

out of interest what brand is the skewbald at the front and the bay with the purple in its mane? I have never seen ones like those before.

i love that collection! The only old toy horse I have from my childhood is my Tri-ang spring mounted metal rocking horse - and I could not part with it for all the tea in China! I think he would be a bit big for your collection anyway! :D

I have one remaining Julip, a flaxen chestnut called Banner (sold the rest last year to pay a vets bill), four Magpie models, and a huge tub of about 200 small plastics including Britain’s, a couple of Schleich and lots of no name ones.

Plus a few nice Breyers, two China Clydesdales in harness, some various little metal or glass ones, and a wooden one on wheels from when I was 2.

Sadly I couldn’t bring myself to sell any of them. I love them and hauled them round numerous house moves.

love your collection, have fun adding to them!

That sounds really cool! I had a beloved rocking horse when I was a child - brushed its mane until it turned into dreadlocks haha

That's completely understandable, it's easy to get attached to them! :D

They sound really nice, I've never had any Magpie horses before but have seen photos of them and they look rather special indeed.

They are indeed the original littlest pet shop horses. I had a coloured pony one and it too had a little jewel on it. I remember calling it Magic and stole one of my brothers Lego men to ride it!

That sounds so cute, happy memories! I have quite a lot of the LPS ones, I think I have most of the horses that were released :)

I have hundreds of model horses in my attic. I kept them incase I ever had a child (hahahahaha!!) but I will probably give them to my best friend’s daughter if she gets interested in horses. I had a lot of Cassy horses- the stables and gymkhana field, some Julip ones, pony in my pocket (original) and loads of random ones that I bought or received as gifts. I also had some Barbie horses, two that walked when you lifted their tails, albeit they fell over a lot!
I had a lovely Chelful horse, who is still in my wardrobe with his rider and dog.

My toys gave me so many hours of fun.

I still have my Sindy horse, which I was given on my 6th birthday (in 1974!), he is missing his tail and has a fair few injuries over the years, he does still have his saddle and nose bag! He is a Peanut, non flocked, raised foreleg. He’s never for sale though.

If only you had posted a month ago..I had kept over 25 different horses some were 50 years old..the big brown Barbie or Sindy horse through to 5 year old moving Barbie horses . Kids played with them all. But I’m moving to downsize so I’m trying to jettison stuff.

I have a big box of Britains horses, and some Schleich's which are my daughter's. I also have about 15 of those little china ones, grazing, galloping, rolling etc. On one memorable occasion daughter was playing with them and I realised (too late) she was "galloping" them across the floor leaving a trail of little china legs behind :(

It sounds like you had an amazing childhood collection! I wish I still had mine from when I was a kid, but we sold them all at a carboot sale to fund the first family dog!

Both my rocking horses are still at my parents house, I had hours of fun on the bigger one riding along to the racing and Badminton and jumping along to them on him

Love how many typically horsey kids we were!

My cousin had a huge collection of about 150 1st gen My Little Pony’s, and I was obsessed with them. One Christmas when I was about 7, my mum bought almost all of them off her and wrapped them up in a box for Christmas morning. I used to sneak downstairs in the middle of Christmas Eve night to look at the presents that ‘appeared’, and our cat had jumped on top of the box and tore through the paper. Naturally I peeked inside, couldn’t sleep all night with excitement, and had to poorly feign surprise in the morning ?

I also got the My Beautiful Horses magazine every week as a treat, which came with a free model on the front. They were also a staple present from every relative for each holiday for many years, and I ended up with a pretty big collection. The My Beautiful Horses models kept me occupied as an only child, probably into my early teens.

I very regrettably had to sell some of my rare MLPs, but none of the others are ever leaving! I used to kid myself that they were being kept for my own children, but I think I might bring them out and display them all properly once we move.

You've got me thinking now! I had a Cassy horse called stroller that came with a stable with sound effects? A pink Barbie jeep & trailer that came with a big palomino & a walker horse called Sprint! Needless to say the Barbie trailer ended up full of about 20 various models in it being dragged around - all of which are still in my parents attic & I won't let go! My rocking horse is still in their house too - many a grand national completed on him lol!!

There seem to be loads & loads of models going on ebay very reasonably priced if you know what you're after specifically OP :)

Yes I first started to collect the My Beautiful Horses magazines which came with little horses. Then I moved on to Julips. I have about 30 of them. I was fascinated by them, I made them all rugs and head collars, paper bedding for their stables and chopped hard spaghetti for their haynets! Then I got a real horse... and they’ve sat on shelves ever since.

I have quite a lot of the My Beautiful Horses ones. I offered them to a poster on here a few months ago who paints and re-hairs them but she decided she didn't want them in the end as I'd painted lots of white socks on them when I was a kid. Happy to let you have some if you're interested - PM me an email address and I'll send you some photos so you can have a look. They were very well played with and I trimmed all the manes and tails so they are not in mint condition at all!
