Do you keep your horse old horseshoes

My horse got new shoes the farrier let me have her old shoes. I like to keep them so when my mare is pts I have something to remember her from . Do you keep your horse old horseshoes.

I love what this lady does with shoes. Sadly I didn’t have any when I lost my mare suddenly as she had had them removed a few months prior due to unrelated reasons so I hadn’t kept one. If you go to her page, you will see them in the horseshoes.

I have some of my old boy's shoes. One of my colleagues very kindly sneaked his last shoes into the powder coating line, and they are a lovely shade of silver now.

When my daughters pony was pts following a bad accident the vet kindly took off his shoes for her. I thought this was a lovely touch. I have saved the shoes for her wedding day and will have something nice made for luck

Yep - got a shoe from each shod one, which eliminates the current two, but I have other plans for them. I had them made into a little set of hooks, for my coat, dog leads and headcollars.

We have hubby’s mare’s shoes from when we first got her and took her barefoot (we devastatingly lost her suddenly 7 months after getting her), our farrier very kindly made one of them into a heart for us, a lovely memory.

Ernie is barefoot and I have his last pair. A very odd man on Facebook keeps asking for them.

I'm currently using one to slowly stretch a new sliphead for his show bridle and rugby Pelham (one made to his size would have been £80, an off the shelf one was £21 but about a centimetre too short, with no shows this year, I've got time to stretch it)

I have a couple from my 30 yr old pony when I used to ride her many moons ago, and also have a set from my current horse. I found a company that takes them in and shines them up and will also embellish them too if that’s what people want. They come up so lovely! Let me know if you want a link and I’ll try to find it

He has also made a wine rack for a friend.

Although these two horses are still with me, I was feeling creative a couple months back and made these, they're not amazing pieces of art to be fair but they were fun to do. I have made a set for a friend who lost her horse recently and a couple for another friend. Got a few shoes left and recently bought rose gold spray paint so might have another little go in the near future
