I was in the St John Ambulance for years before I emigrated to France, so yes to CPR and yes to an AED, but I never qualified to use a non-automatic defibrillator.
The AEDs you find in shopping centres etc are great. They show you where to put the pads on, and after that everything is automoatic. They do talk to you which can help you take a breath during an emergency situation.
