Hi there, we have a Patterdale Terrier x male who is a year old. We have noticed a number of sores on th back of his neck that appear to go in a line down towards bum. They dont go as far as his bum but start back of neck and go down between shoulders. They are scabby, small and red. They dont appear to be itchy to him. I've given them a bit of a squeeze as thought that they may be ticks but nothing comes out? Any ideas? He's had it for about a week now.

is he itchy?
if yes then
has he been treated for flea's lately if so what with?

Could be mange...lice...so selamectin(like stronghold) or i think advocate and maybe frontline as a few examples of product's should clear it up
if he's not itchy then food allergys maybe or demodex problem though demodex is less likely....

If he's due for Frontline I would use Stronghold instead this time around as it deals with mange as well as fleas. While you're at the vet getting the Stronghold, I would also get some Malaseb shampoo, it's better than Hibiscrub for scabby conditions.

Second Malaseb too. What way does he lie down and where? Could you possibly have some time just to observe him for a long period, where he goes, what he does and if he is worrying at himself?
