My horses are on my own land but its about 3 miles from where i live, they have there stables but im worried that if i can't get up there they are gonna stuck in, so this was my thought, i could leave there stable doors open and they can walk in as and when they want. Obviously they will be checked and fed twice a day, but just thinking what if i cant get there if the snow is bad.

They do have a real of hay in there field at the mo.

any advice?

Makes perfect sense. Your horses will have the freedom to be wherever they want to be, whether inside or out. Just make sure they have ad lib hay and access to water. Fill as many different types of troughs and trugs as you can and they'll be fine. Far better than potentially stuck in for hours on end if you can't get there.

Mine all live out 24/7 with plenty of shelter and access to their stables. They haven't used them once this weather!

This is how I manage all of mine and I've found that this makes them the most happiest and relaxed. I have 7 ranging from young warmbloods to hairy natives and they all thrive! Rugged up with access to stables with big beds as and when they please! Heaven!

Mine have no choice they are 24/7 turnout with no stables, but they do have two shelters that they never bloomin use!!!!!!! So they are obviously happier with the snow in their ears

Same here, from 7 months warmblood to 16 year old cob I rarely see them in the shelters. Foaly is lying down in the hardpack snow most mornings. Really panicked the first time but she is like 'what's the problem mum'. We tend to forget they are animals.
