Do you like looking after your horses as much, if not more than riding them?

Yep - now my horse is retired I share another one day a week, but love making everything as good as I can for them.

No! For me riding is definately the main attraction but I really enjoy looking after them myself too. I wouldn't ever want to put them on full livery and not care for them on a day to day basis but on the other hand, I would not want a horse if I couldn't ride (at least at this point in my life).

That is just how I feel too:D

I would love to say 'yes', but mine is on full livery due to work :o

However when I had share horses on DIY before, I loved the 'jobs' side of things, and took great pride in laying a perfect bed, and having perfect banks, and perfectly mixed feeds.

Now, I just groom and ride, although since I bought him he's been out of work more than in work.

I missed the whole 'being around horses' when I gave up for a while, not just the riding, and although mine is on box rest and I won't be able to ride for ages, I don't really mind from my point of view, just feel bad for him stuck inside.

Before i got my pony riding was my favourite but now i'm a bit of a 40/60 after him being lame and out of work for a few weeks we began to really bond and i got into the care side and have began to even enjoy mucking out at times!

I enjoy riding but adore 'being' with my pony so much. Is there any better feeling than the one you get when your horse whinnys as you walk on to the yard in the morning? I think not - it's all about the bond and riding's just a part of that. The best part of the horsey experience for me is grooming and the worst frozen pipes in winter!
