I was doing a bit of Window shopping and saw this advert for a little mare which appeals to me except I was hoping to find an 8 year old in September.

Do you think they havent shown a Dressage photo as its not her strong point and will someone stop me looking too soon I have only just sent my gorgeous boy off as a companion (hes having a wonderful time with his new loan mummy).

The problem is that I want a 16.1 Bay 8 yo gelding

I do have a soft spot for a good Liver Chestnut though do we think thats a good price at 10 ?

Luckily I am too tied up for the next 10 days to go and look.

i think it is a reasonable price as she has done both BSJA and BE and looks as if she is a true allrounder... i think that a trip to see her is in order

Hmmh looking good. I will play my trump card. Cant even look at her until w/c 24th so I will ring up then and if she is unsold I am meant to look at her if she is sold it wasnt meant to be. I usually use this system when buying shoes and clothes not horses but it never failed then.

There is the little issue that I havent jumped a horse since June 2007 due to my lads layoff so maybe I had better book a lesson as well. Thats why I was supposed to wait until September so that I could get my jumping beans back inline.

Have to say that the overrall picture(last 1)i dont particularly like

,just my personal opinion

,not my cuppa, looks very ponyish!!Looking at the way she is put together it strikes me as she will have pony paces, dosnt look like she would be extravagant in dressage???i could be wrong and the only way to find out is to go and try!!
Dont rush into anything,if you are looking for something bigger then wait, give yourself time to look about!!!

However only my advice, may well be worth a look, but i agree with you with the dressage shots, depends on what you plan to do!!
Good luck whatever you decide!!

Cracking.

Not convinced it's snaffle mouthed - photo's show diffent bits. But that needn't be a problem.

Is it the sort of horse you are looking for - ie not a happy hacker??

Yep I dont want a happy hacker I want to be able to go out and play. With My lad I used to jump up to 1 metre (too chicken for proper jumping) SJ and X/C and do Dressage at to Novice. Havent really had the chance to compete for quite a while as we have had intermittent lameness for so long and I once waited four hours for a SJ class only to discover he was lame as I warmed up. We used to have a lot of fun but then the fun went out of it when I didnt like pre entering because I never knew if he would be sound.

I really want a horse that knows its job jumping and can do a nice dressage test. I am better at the flatwork and need to be looked after a bit when jumping. Although when the boy was really up for it we could jump anything. So in essence I dont want to Affiliate or do BE I just want to have fun.

So a good allrounder who can do its stuff but wont make the grade to move on up thru SJ BE levels but wants a home where it can have fun and be well looked after would be right up my street. I know they are about as a friend has one.
