When it comes to my horse sad but true i love everything i buy for him to be just that little bit special. He has a beautiful red crystal bridle, weird and wonderful coloured turnout rugs and a whole selection of show rugs for when we eventually get out next year. My latest purchase is a beautiful satin show rug made by Sunset Rugs which is royal blue with a white and red binding and has big silver stars on it. I love it i saw one of these on ebay about a year ago and got outbid on it i was gutted! They come from Australia and when i looked them up they had some awesome rugs nothing that you would see over here.Anyway we just got a gorgeous stars and stripes turnout rug on ebay never seen one before but had to have it!. Looking it up on the internet i found one exactly the same in a western tack shop up north they are also to my suprise stockists of the sunset rugs and guess what they are in the sale half price so if you are looking for something different take a look they are unique! What is the most extravegant thing in your horses wardrobe and do you like your horse to look different?

I buy rugs in the sale in the summer and like brands which are made for strength and safety as my horses will trash anything in five minutes! In theory I would love to be one of those people with co-ordinated everything, but in practice I can't even remember what 'my colour' is supposed to be!

I was like that with my youngster up until he got over his rip everything stage it wasnt worth buying him anything nice as long as it was strong, safe and did its job that was all that mattered! Now he has grown up and keeps his teeth to himself i have treated him to a few nice things but i dont seem to have one colour anymore as long as its different i buy it. OH is just glad its his wardrobe and not mine!!!

I like my horse to stand out for being the one that looks the best, healthiest, best looked after. My horse would look ridiculous in colourful rugs and sparkly bridles.

I'm always conflicted -
I have FAR too much horsey stuff because I buy plain things & "frivolous" things so there's a set of each

PLEASE tell me the name of the tackshop with sunset rugs?

I NEED one, if it's half price!!!

I'm desperate to buy a blue patent Otto Schumacher bridle but I just can't justify the expense...

I like my horses to stand out in a crowd by their performance/looks, not by being blinged up

I used to love bling when I was little, but now my horses are always the least blinged up when I go showjumping, yet we still get noticed, particulary with my youngster

Its Trekkers western store you will see the one i got on their website but for the full collection visit the sunset rugs website as i believe they may be able to get them! There are some amazing bridles on ebay at the moment i got mine for twenty pound its an expensive one and i managed to get it at a fraction of the cost!

I suppose everyone has different taste and the showjumping world seems to be one of the leading sectors for bling what with the bridles, matching saddle cloths and fly veils, diamonte spurs and riding boots its everywhere . Love it or hate it i think bling is here to stay at the end of the day it is down to individual taste but because im into showing coloured browbands making your horse all pretty pretty is the norm im affraid so i suppose it will always be in my bones!

Also, horses are meant to be FUN, & I get more kicks out of buying something cool for horsey than I do spending money on myself...

PMSL at some of the 'too good for bling' replies on here.
I love baby blue and brown, and so if I can't get something in one colour I can usually get it in the other. When we compete I use blue boots and a blue velvet or diamante browband. Brown tack and saddle pad. Also have a blue travel rug and bandages, and padded headcollar. I tend to go for quality too as it means I can resell it more easily, and of course it's often more comfortable for the horse.

Ditto MyLadyTara I like our horse to stand out because of his condition, turnout & ability. We do smartness, we don't do bling. Bling tends to be short lived fashion but good quality well made & well looked after tack always looks good & shows off the horse far more than wearing of the current fashion trends.

Personally I can't stand a lot of bling and bright colours as I think a nice looking, coorectly produced horse is eye catching enough. I just go for good quality boring stuff I guess (loads of plain white saddlecloths and bandages)

Although when I was younger I do admit my first pony was clad in purple

I must admit I do like the OS padded bridles but would have one in a subtle colour. Most of my horse and pony's 'stuff' is black, navy, grey or baby blue and I don't like lots of bling. I buy things that are good quality and made to last, rather than the latest equine fashions. Besides my horse stands out in a crowd because of his colour anyway (he's buckskin).

Oh God No. If I drew attention to myself everything would be bound to go wrong and I couldn't melt into oblivion in the crowd then.

Palominos tend to stand out anyway.

I think Tobago is probably 'blingy' enough all by himself LOL!

I mean, with a horse like this...

...you don't really need a lot of blingy tack! I admit that doesn't stop me buying pretty in-hand show-bridles for him

- but the rest of his stuff (rugs, etc) is mainly just the best/strongest I can find, as he is inclined to trash things.
