Do you like your horses name?

I have a Boss too and his name suits him down to the ground so I like it.
I also have a Moon and a Millie which are too common and a bit dull but thats what they came with!

Cinnamon- I do like it

. It really suits him!

My horse is called Egg

He is a large Dutch Warmblood and i don't think it suits him.

Good thread, i could do with a bit of help here If you don't mind me imposing .One of my mares i bought last year is a tb,(bought her in foal' shE is called Gunner be Good (sire was Gunner B)she is 17 now and about to drop her last foal, I have been calling her yummy mummy, she is all dark bay , all soft and cuddly and a beautiful nature.Any ideas on a stable name for her, I doubt she ever had one as she has spent 10 years at stud as a broodmare ? but as she will spend the rest of her life with us in easy retirement.
Any ideas welcome ?,

Sunsilk - took me a while to get used to it and i dont think i 'like' it even now, but it does actually suit her!

My horse's name is Adrian & I like it cos it's comical & he's a funny kind of horse. He looks as if he's in on the joke.

I didn't like Catembi's name when I first got him. It's an African drink made of red wine & coke, & he was named it by a S African groom as his dappled bits went pink in summer, like the drink. Then I got to like it cos it's quite unique. And then after he'd died I found out that it should have been 'Catembe' all along.

No idea, he came from Leominster sales 2007 with Boss on his passport! He originally came from Rochdale area, we think.

I dont think I could change her name, she's just too....Porridge. I do call her Pea, but Ive always called all my horses Sweet Pea!

Ive named most of my horses - Ive had Humphrey, Stanley, Frank, Beaker, Indie, Hector, Jack, Jasmine, Charlie....if I wanted to change P's name Id have called her Mildred or Maud or something equally silly
smile.gif

I chose Tia Maria's name. I couldnt call her Lady like her previous owners did. I wouldnt say I have had any bad luck with her after changing her name either

my old pony was called topsy, that had to be changed as it sounds like a rabbit so she was connie
xx

My share horse's name is Guinness, he is black with a white stripe and four white socks so he does look like a pint of guinness :-) And i really like the name, it suits him down to the ground.

My old ponies name was Harry, which is really common.

Oh and call me stupid, but i never knew you could change horses names? Is it only when they're young you can do this or can you do it all ages?

I named Missy ... Missy .... as she is a right missy at times .

I also picked her show name which coincides with her sire and her dam and also her stable name ... Comets MissDeMeanor . ( Comet for her sire rachelle comet and Miss for her damn Miss CarJanJu ) .

Tommy tucker was already named on his passport as Brookvale Tommy Tucker .

I think he suits it down to a T or is that two T's

i have a small called DoDo,welsh cob called Denny, 26 yr old pony called Tammy, also bought two at auction 1 big 1 small so they are Big Ted and Little Ted. but the best one was my welsh cob stallion called Humphrey!! what was i thinking but i loved it and him bless.

My skewbald was called Harlequin when I bought him, and quickly became Harley, I guess I wouldn't have picked it, but after 12 years he does recognise it! The piebald is Echo, that's what's on his passport, you can't really change Echo much! And the spotty, well we bred her, her stable name is Ellie (we're obviously low on imagination!) but her registered name is Spot the Risk - mother was called Gentles Risk, and Ellie was born very spotty, so it kind of made sense - hope she doesn't fade otherwise I'll have the same issues as Patches!

I like mine - Woody! Suits him somehow. My fisr (bought) pony was a red & white coloured called Spike and that suited him (I thought a cool name). My next pony (who I still have) is called Chancer and you certainly do take a chance getting on him! hehe

My chap's called Batman. Probably not what I'd have chosen, but it does suit him, especially when he's wearing his snuggy hood with ears!

my horse is called Barney... which i think is quite cute
smile.gif
but hes real name is Pour Toi, which means For You, which I Love
smile.gif
and i think thats kinda cute too... BUT no one can pronounce it
frown.gif
its always Poor Toy or something along those lines
frown.gif
but i like it
smile.gif
out others are called Claudia Habibi, Discussions Folds, Guante and Chumakka or also known as Claudia, Buttons, Guante and Chump :P

when i first bought my mare her name was surgar and being a 16h2 clydex warmblood was totaly stupid name so after about a day she was renamed skye and she suits it and i like it.

For the mare in foal - the yummy mummy what about calling her Cindy or Elle or something, after another yummy mummy?

My horse is called Jake. I like it, he likes it, he knows his name. Jacob when he is being naughty.

No, not much. He's called Trigger which always seems to me to be what you call a horse when you can't think of anything else. It's like having a dog called Lassie. Plus, Trigger should be a palamino, not a piebald gypsy cob. I intended to change it, but before I knew it everyone knew him by that (vet, farrier, YM etc) and I never got around to it.

Everyone on the yard calls him fatboy or fatboy slim anyway though (he was very fat when he arrived).
