I do....thats obviously not to say I'm IN love with mine...even I draw that line..lol

A current post about what people call their horses has had me thinking.
Some of you are irritated by peoples pet names for their horses and i wonder if those people feel differently about thier animals than those of us that will happily call them 'coblet', 'ponio' etc, etc.

My horses are with me for life and are part of my life. When I lost my COBBIE a while back I was gutted and still struggle to really think and talk about her

I really love my lot. I get that feeling when I see them that I want to just squeeze them and they make me laugh and I worry about them and want to do what I can for them...they are a huge part of my life! I guess I am what alot of you would describe as a fluffy bunny...Bothered?...er no!

I hvae two kids and obviously if I had to choose I would choose them so I'm not completely gaga but I get those same sorts of feelings for my nags that I do for my kids....it definitely love

No your not losing the plot my fettish with my horses is that i love putting my whole face on their shoulders and breathing in their smell . Some people express their feeling more openly nothing wrong in that .

I love George dearly and sometimes it frightens me how much, I dread the day when something happens to him. I also feel the need to thump people who say 'it's only a horse' - arrgg!

Yes love my horses

!! You have to work with the hand you have dealt and so for me that means I have horses and dogs instead of kids so be it - I'm happy and so are my beasties - and yes I love them as unlike kids they don't answer back

Not really, but I wouldn't be without them.

I respect them, I enjoy being with them and the huge amount of fun we have, I'm grateful for having them brighten my life, I care for them, look after their health and nutrition and appreciate them for the amazing animals that they are.

Oh yes I do love my boy, for sure! I might insult him and call him names (like fattie boom boom or smelly cat) but its clear to everyone who sees us together that he is one of the most important 'people' (for want of a better word! Entities?) in my life.

Alright I'll be the odd one (two?

) out again.

Horses are horses. No I have not ever loved a horse, mine or someone elses. I don't currently have one of my own, but in the past I can't say I have loved my pony.
I love being around horses/riding, I think they are beautiful fascinating creatures, and they do brighten my day but they are animals at the end of the day.
Something like a dog I feel more of a connection with, but a dog is still a dog.

Maybe I'm odd.

I love my 3 boys to bits, the other 2 I 'like' but not had them long.
Once I went to do horses and found Bear lame and had a swollen shoulder, I rang my friend in histerics, she thought I found one dead!
It turned out to be a thorn that had got in under his rug and got it infected

Are you my twin? Ditto Chico Mio.

No, I don't LOVE my horses.

Def not losing the plot! I love my boy, I've not had him very long but we already have a great bond. He's extremely affectionate, he makes me laugh and I worry about him when I'm not with him even though the yard he's at is the very best I can afford and I trust them with him. I miss him when I'm not with him, so I yeah I do love my boy!

I love Jed more than some of my family members! I appreciate i may get shot down by this comment but i would choose his life over most humans any day of the week!!!

I LOVE MY BABY! hehe

I love my little mare - she is part of the family. I care greatly for my other 2 ponies, but I don't love them like I do my mare.

Just a Horse

From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a horse,"
or,"that's a lot of money for just a horse".

They don't understand the distance travelled, the time spent, or the
costs involved for "just a horse." Some of my proudest moments have come
about with "just a horse."

Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a horse," but I did
not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought
about by "just a horse," and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch
of "just a horse" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.

If you, too, think it's "just a horse," then you will probably
understand phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a
promise."

"Just a horse" brings into my life the very essence of friendship,
trust, and pure unbridled joy.

"Just a horse" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a
better person. Because of "just a horse" I will rise early, take long
walks and look longingly to the future.

So for me and folks like me, it's not "just a horse" but an embodiment
of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the
past, and the pure joy of the moment.

"Just a horse" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away
from myself and the worries of the day.

I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a horse" but
the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a woman."

So the next time you hear the phrase "just a horse" just smile, because
they "just" don't understand.
