Do you muck out with your horse in the stable or tie up outside?

I pick the poo out with rubber gloves on and put into a skip while my horse is eating breakfast - I then turn out before finishing off the stable. I wouldn't take a barrow or any tools into the stable while a horse is in there - not enough room and as others have said, accidents can happen.

If I leave Nadia tied up outside she will just stand there and scrape her foot for the whole time and drive me up the wall so she is more than likely going to be turned out but can be mucked out whislt in the stable and she is no problem.

Ours are always turned out before we do the yard which I prefer, because Fig is SO annoying! He follows you round constantly trying to rest his head on your shoulder, which is cute, but makes mucking out really difficult!!!

I turn out before I muck out. It is quite rare that they have to stay in, and most of the time if they do the YO will say TO for 1 hour, gives us chance to muck out :) Iif they aren't allowed out at all (happened one or two days last year) I muck out around them, but they are both pretty good. They either stand looking out the door or eating hay, both at the front of the stable on the rubber mats so no need to come near my tools.
I tend to semi deep litter, picking it all up on a weekend so if their in I just don't do a full muck out, I don't want to fling bedding around with the dust moving!

I usually turn them out, or if I am riding straight after, I stick them in a spare stable with a haynet and some water, only drawback with this is you then have to skip that stable out too, but it doesn't take too long.

Tend to turnout first unless I ride in the morning, then I'll tie up outside. After having a horse who was nervous being mucked out in the stable, I prefer them out the way.

one i will muck out with him in two i wont, one of the two last time tried to hump it...and thus nocked it over -.-" not done that since but i dont trust him! and the other i think would get to nervous as he likes to see you at all times so would nock it over... the one that i do muck out with him in there just stands and watches me with great interest loL!

Either way is fine I sometimes do it around my horse if he hasn't been turned out, but it doesn't matter either way really what ever you feel confident with your horse!

Sometimes I can skip out in the morning before mine decides to get out of bed...

Either, or. It just depends - on the weather, how many horses are already tied up (if I can't turn out) & what I fancy.

It's easier to muck out with him in the stable than tied up outside - he's a master at untying himself, rummagging through other horse's feeds & just being 'into' everything he shouldn't! I can keep better tabs on him from inside the stable with me :D

Turn out, put on walker or muck out carefully in stable. Never ever, ever tie up outside - seen too many bad accidents. Have even removed all tie rings so no one is tempted!
