Luckily for me I do :o

For the majority of my life I've never been fixated on a particular breed or colour, then someone mentioned in passing about Mérens horses - I looked them up and fell in love.

Fortunately it only took me 18 months to find one to buy (after humming and harring for aaages!). OK, so Blitz is about 4 years younger than what I was envisioning buying, and he cost almost 4x the amount I though I would have to pay, but I wouldn't change him for the world... and I know we are going to have lots of fun together as he grows up.

I always wanted a smart welsh D for dressage, found this little chap and fell in love! he was sold to someone else i know but by a twist of fate i ended up with him! He has so much character and real presence about him. He is very flashy being black with 4 white socks and a blaze, he moves very very nicely. He is rising 2 but the downside is i am unable to geld him at the moment without shelling out a small fortune as he only has one testicle dropped :(
Still i think he will be a fabulous boy when he matures, really looking forward to starting him :D
 
Yes, I can honestly say I do. Although I've been riding and around horses since I was a child I wasn't in a position to have something of my own until I was in my 40's. I was just after a nice sane sensible horse to have a bit of fun with - I was looking for a coloured or spotty and found my perfect pony in a dark bay New Forest :D Although he's mine and I think he's special anyway he's not like any other horse or pony I've ever known. He's a super character, more like a big dog and we've had a go at all sorts together. People who say they are frightened of horses never are with him, he's a real gentleman in both senses of the word. He'll be with us forever :p

Echoing above - on paper, no . . . but I wouldn't part with him.

Those of us of a certain age will remember "white horses" . . . "on white horses, snowy white horses . . . let me ride away . . . "

I always wanted a pony/horse - and, frankly, colour didn't matter - bright green with purple spots would have been perfectly fine . . . but there is something so ethereal and striking about greys - particularly when they are clean . . . the fact that Kal is grey was a bonus, but I do get to ride away on my "snowy white horse . . . "

I did. Luce was an ex racer, and one in a million. I could tack him up on my own even when I was in my chair, he could be led in from the field with it too.

Together we went from Aus to England to the USA, but sadly his splints meant he wouldn't sustain our level of competition for long, so I ended up with Kiwi and Nellie

Kiwi on our first ride together, her not caring at all that she went from an able bodied rider to one who doesn't use her right ride.

And lovely Nellie at her first show, both these girls are amazing, and if I hadn't been spoiled by Luce would be worthy of being a dream horse!
 
I can honestly say my current horse is my "dream" horse. He's surpassed by expectations completely, I remember buying him out of sympathy as a very thin, full of worms, extremely green donkey looking creature! We've grown together to go up the levels BE and BSJA to ones I never thought I'd do. He's a very very special horse who has always tried his hardest for me with never a gripe. One in a million!

I still miss my Welsh D that I sold a couple of years ago - he was such a character. We'd have the biggest arguements (he was extremely arrogant and like a stroppy toddler at times!) but wow do I miss that horse.
 
Yes & no. I still have my 14.2 Connie x tb that was my dream pony when I got her in my early teens. She took me as far as foxhunters, medium & novice be but didn't have the ability to even consider going higher. So I bought my new dream 17.2 sports horse. However when divorce meant I could only keep one, I kept the pony! In lots of ways she is a dream horse, tiny tots can handle her & she'll look after them if they ride, 100% with anything, very much a genuine school mistress for nervous kids & teens but incredibly fun for someone confident & everyone says she's as near to the perfect all rounder as you're likely to get. But I've outgrown her both in ability & leg, so not my dream pony anymore. But I love her for herself way to much even to dream of ever getting rid, can't imagine not having her.
Daughter has her dream pony, both small & over confident & like to whizz everywhere. I'm not sure which of them is quickest to spot a grass verge big enough to canter on!
 
Yeah I do. Given that i've always been a bit more besotted with Flamey (chestnut PBA mare) than any other horses I've come come across, and I've always wanted a chestnut purebred one day, my other boy is perfick. Gorgeous and ticks all the boxes. He's out of action at the moment but I'm so excited to get going with him when he's operating at 100% seeing as he was pretty fab even whilst coping with a dodgy foot.

I would say my 2 Warmblood fillies, well one filly and mare are my dream horses. I bred them both. But I also have the mother of one and 2 other full TB's. One a retiree and one 7yo mare I love to bits. When my first Warmblood filly was born in 2006 I was 36 and I had that dream since I was 7 years of age and saw my first Trakhener. So yeah I consider myself lucky. She's also a gorgeous light deep red bay with a big White blaze. My favorite color. Not that that should matter, just worked out that way.

Hippo is the horse I never dared to dream of owning...now I dream of being a better rider so we can progress together!
 
Yes, I'm very lucky in that I own three almost perfect 'dream' horses.

As I child I dreamt of a chestnut Arab mare with a blaze and four white socks who liked galloping and jumping and ended up with Lady a PBA rescue pony although I actually went looking for a cob gelding!

I then decided that I wanted a horse that didn't get so excited in company and that I wouldn't ever outgrow, to show and do dressage on. I love buckskins, white faces and stockings but didn't go out looking for one. After months of searching I found Fudge :D

Sadly Fudge is semi-retired due to injury and I wasn't planning on getting another horse but was tempted by several cobs and Highlands, my friend went to buy some feed one day and came back with Merlin, who had behavioural issues and had been through 6 homes and several sales rings in as many weeks. Merlin has given me heaps of much needed confidence :)

yep that i do! hes got the personality, the locks, the feathers, the patches, and the blue eye....has a big head but cant win them all either way he is still perfect!

also got my dream pony for my children i do not have yet, but like to be ahead of my self lmao! He will be a safe push button or l/r when nessisary!

both are super playful!
 
Yes I do. I didn’t know he was my dream horse until I got him but from then on he certainly was. I make sure I have never him for granted, more so now having nearly lost him 6 months ago.

I think we have mutual respect for each other, even to the extent that I say please and thank you to him :D

glad im not alone there, i get funny looks saying thank you to a horse often! lol :D

i even say thank you and please to my iphone 4s! ha better to be polite though!
 
I always thought my dream horse was a teenage 15.2hh heavyweight coloured or bay cob with a big white blaze down his nose and 4 white socks who was safe beyond belief and could pop a fence if I was lucky...
So how I ended up with an 18.2hh 6yo clydesdale being delivered, I'm still not quite sure! However in the 2 years I have had him he has proven himself to be beyond my wildest dreams. He is safe as houses but is a genuine allrounder and he has given this nervous-novice the confidence to perform in county show rings, compete at XC and even go drag hunting! But the best thing is that he will listen to me when I need a best friend.
If anyone asks he is all the ponies I wanted as a child just wrapped up in one giant furry skin. And he has managed to combine extras of all the colours I wanted.

omg i now love Mérens horses, didnt even know about them till this thread. can i ask where you got him, also going to find out more about them, really do like them. what height would yours grow to, i would need a 15hhs. going to search more about them.

I always wanted a Clydesdale x TB gelding, dark mahogany bay,white blaze and legs. I also needed an easy family horse, as I bought when my daughter was under 1 year old, and wanted my horse to live at home and be part of the family. I wanted a real all rounder. Only thing that doesn't quite fit the bill is that I wanted something fizzy and forward going, whereas Oscar is rather laidback!

I own a jolly nice horse, wouldn't say he's the horse of my dreams though!

If I could combine all the best bits of the horses I've had, I would have my dream horse.

YES!!!

Sadly, he is just about to turn 34 though, so we don't get up to what we used to, but he is and always will be my dream horse.

Got him when I was 12, and he taught me more than any other horse ever could, he was my little chestnut speed machine but at the same time knew when he needed to be quieter. He has an uncanny knack of knowing when I need a cuddle, and is never sore or sorry. He still trots up to me with that sparkle in his eye and adores my children. He is everything I could ever have hoped for in a horse and ten times more, owes me nothing but has given me everything and continues to everyday. I adore him.

I have other horses, and love them to bits, but they wont ever replace him, and think it's just important that I don't ever try to replace him, cos I'll only ever be disappointed.

Gahhh I'm crying. Silly HHO for evoking these emotions out of me!! :mad:
