Do you own your dream horse?

Aww GG Bells!
Yes I have my dream horse. In the shape of a little chunky 15hh cob mare who, quite frankly, I would have turned my nose up at, in my previous incarnation as a horse snob.
Thankfully, we found each other 6.5 years ago and I love her to the ends of the earth. She isn't perfect in many peoples eyes but as far as I'm concerned she is an angel in a horsehair suit. :)

Always wanted a 16.2hh dapple grey ID mare with big brown eyes. Ended up with a black 14.3hh cob with white socks and a big white star, he is irish though.

You cant help who you fall in love with sometimes, and being a 'dream horse' is something very personal. He's not everyone's cup of tea, as he is the equine equivalent of Phil Mitchell, and is the yard thug, but he is my dream horse. He is as rock solid on the roads as you can get, you can put him out in the field or a week, climb back on and he is still the same as when you work him every night. He has been very well schooled in the past and has taken me showjumping, dressaging and showing, plus we hunted quite a bit, he's also gone to PC camp and rallies with Mini TX and in a past life was an RDA horse. He's dead safe, but with a little bit of spark, which makes him fun. He is my horse of a lifetime, and at 19 he still behaves like a 6 year old.

Dont think a horse will ever be perfect for everyone, which is why they become so special to you, because you get to know and love them so well.

She looks beautiful to me in your signature :)

Yupp!!! Rowan (my spotty pony) is everything I could have dreamed of in a horse. I wouldn't change anything apart from maybe add an inch in height but he is only 5 so may grow that inch yet!

Yes, I am exceptionally lucky, I can't quite believe it.

I was blessed with my soulmate horse who I very sadly lost in October, but am massively thankful for the time I had with him.

Now I have my dream dressage horse who I got at a tiny fraction of what he's worth and who is well beyond anything I could normally afford. I worship him!

Rema he is stunning. Love dapplegreys. Mine was a similar colour at that age, at 23 she's still only faded to a silvery fleabitten shade. Think you should send him me!

Aww thank you..He is now going whiter as the years go by (he is in my signature).I wish he had stayed that dapple colour..I think i will send him back and ask for a refund.lol

Yeah I do. It's fairly obvious as I go on about him all the time and I drive people crazy ;). He is everything to me. If anything happened to him I would probably give up horses as I don't think anything else would compare. If anyone hurt him I would rip off their arms and legs and tear out their eyes, I get that protective over him (goodness knows what i'll be like when I have children!).

He is not a perfect horse (what horse is?) but he is perfect for me. He is the apple of my eye and my pride and joy. It's his personality that I love as much as everything else. I can't even describe it.

I did, until I lost him to cancer last year. He was my rock and best friend growing up. I made a list of everything I wanted in a horse 6 months before I found him, he ticked all 12 boxes and more over the years.

I always thought my dream horse was a teenage 15.2hh heavyweight coloured or bay cob with a big white blaze down his nose and 4 white socks who was safe beyond belief and could pop a fence if I was lucky...
So how I ended up with an 18.2hh 6yo clydesdale being delivered, I'm still not quite sure! However in the 2 years I have had him he has proven himself to be beyond my wildest dreams. He is safe as houses but is a genuine allrounder and he has given this nervous-novice the confidence to perform in county show rings, compete at XC and even go drag hunting! But the best thing is that he will listen to me when I need a best friend.
If anyone asks he is all the ponies I wanted as a child just wrapped up in one giant furry skin. And he has managed to combine extras of all the colours I wanted.
My horse in a million...

He is just beautiful.

Mine is my dream: always wanted an arab and had to wait 40 years to get my first horse. He is an Arab gelding. Perhaps I didn't imagine I would have such a complete idiot - might have envisaged something a bit more noble - but the idiot I have amuses me so much. He is just perfect...

Yes I did, my late mare Seren was my dream horse of a lifetime, we had 19 wonderful years together.

I recently purchased a new young mare whom I am getting to know, only had her 8/9 weeks so its hard to tell at this stage, I hope that she will become my next dream horse, who knows. She is a nice young mare but only time will tell if we are right for one another, she does have such big shoes to fill bless her

no i dont. but hes absolutly perfect for what i want to do and has the most amazing character, if i wanted him to be my dream horse them he could be with a bit of work but im not interested in competing andi dont care what anyone else thinks because this big fat ginger wanna be field ornament will be staying with me forever and i wouldnt change him for the world... well if he was a little less accident prone that would be nice but we cant have it all can we ;) he has been my best friend through everything we have had him for 8years and he has done nothing but prove what a big doofus he is, what i have always admired is that hes 17.2 and he knows it but he has never done anything to hurt me even though if he wanted to he could. he can be a pain in the arse but god do i love him, so in a way he is my dream horse, and my horse of a life time...

Rowy, what a lovely Spotty! :D
Great thread and lovely to read that so many of us are blissfully content with the horses we have, rather than wishing for 'better' :)

I'm not sure I'd ever call Herbie my dream horse, and he is not necessarily what I'd go out and buy, but I bred him myself and although there was no immediate bond ( in fact when he went through the teenage years form 5 1/2 to around 7 I seriously thought about selling him), he has matured into a lovely chap. He is now rising 9 and is an amazing horse who does everything I want and more and I think I can safely say he will be my horse of a lifetime.

Absolutley, he is only 4 but just everything I can ever dream of, he is everything and more to me. I think he has been round the block twice before! When I get nervous when we go somewhere new together he looks after me and seems to roll his eyes as if to say ''well mother really what did you expect to happen'' after behaving foot perfect. We are going to a group XC schooling tomo, our first time out to anything like this. I know he'll be amazing, I can trust him 100% and am loving taking him through his babyhood. I know he is going to grow into the most spectacular allrounder. I will never take him for granted, I am very very blessed :)

Yes, I know it sounds very corny but when I was a kid I'd have done anything for what I've had for the last 6 years, we had our gorgeous but quirky DJ who gave us 6 fun filled and at times frustrating years and we also have our little Chloekins who is a diva at times but I wouldn't swap her for the world, love her loads! :)
