My faro's zips have died and other than they they are in good shape <typical> I also want a pair of boots that I can compete in.
All this got me thinking - are boots with zips in more trouble than they are worth?

I'm a traditionalist too - good pair of hunting boots and pull them on by putting plastic bags on my feet and boot pulls!!!!!!!

Plastic bags?!? Ewwwww dont they make your feet hum a little?

I'm beginning to wonder whether its worth getting them with zips - they only end up breaking. I have had my Faros for 3 years and they are still going strong apart from the blasted zips.

Only ever had one pair of proper leather long boots and I got them yesterday so haven't worn them yet. But they are without zips. Though they are a little tight at the top so I'm hoping they will strength a little.

Definately with! I had my Konigs made to measure but they were such agony to get on and off I had zips put up the front. It was a very scarey moment standing watching the saddler take a knife to my £500 boots

but well worth it.

I like them with zips - but mine broke the other day

but I have had them for about 4 years, so I'll just get new zips in them!

but if i did wear long boots without zips (which I had before) I would wear pop socks over my normal socks & jods - you can then actually get the boots off!

Broken ankles and leg (now 1 leg 1.5" fatter than the other) impossible without zips. Even before breakages popsocks, talcum powder and bootpulls then cramp when getting them off even with boot jack - what a hassle

With, although my current boots are without but do have laces. A cobbler replaced the zips in my sisters boots for her, cost about a tenner.

Has to have zips for me. I think those of us with less slender legs find it much easier to zip our boots up (not to mention they tend to fit us better) than trying to squash our ample limbs into an enclosed space!
