Do you put bedding in your lorry?

Just wondered how many of you use bedding i.e. shavings in your lorry? I have very thick rubber mats in mine which are great but twice now my boys have peed in there and it splashes and goes absolutely everywhere!. I was wondering if it would be worth putting down a small amount of shavings to soak it up if this happens again. What do you all do?

I sometimes do, but usually don't because it tends to go everywhere when I open the ramp! He doesn't wee in it anyway, so not an issue for me.

I always put shavings down - a thick strip at the back for the mares and one nearer the middle for the boys. Wet matting isn't idea and it smells! We just sweap it out when we get back and leave the mats clean and clear until the next trip.

I don't, it just goes EVERYWHERE! Our very rarely wee in there and if they do, I just wash it out with some disinfectant and leave to air, seems to get rid of the smell pretty quick.

Yes, although to avoid it going everywhere I use a trug full from his bed! As that is generally a bit grubby so less likely to blow about.

Currently out 24/7 so using up the last of the winter bed before cleaning the stable out.

We use it as the real Little Mare usually makes sure she wees at least once every outing!

Just some at the back.

Thanks for all the answers. Sounds like it would be a good idea. My boys dont do it if i just go for a lesson or short trip but when they are out for the day i think i will put some in.

Yes. My boy wee's as soon as he goes in & at least once more while were out. It's like mucking his stable out when we get back from a day out!!

Yes our horse lorry had thick Oakley rubber mats with drains in but I still always used shavings in the box too. As the lorry was made if Dutchie decided to take a wee in there it would go straight down the drain and out onto the ground below!!

I would definitely recommend it, you don't need lots, a few inches will be fine. It helps make it all more comfortable for them.
