I was just thinking, seenas I have sunburn from forgetting to put suncream on. I have heard of people putting suncream on horses, do you do this to your horses?

Yep

They all have suncream at my yard -my friend's palamino is covered in the stuff!
A few of the "grey clan" have the protective uv net mask things that cover the horses whole head, nose etc which also seems to work (their horses got rid of the cream by rubbing it on each other...)

yep a lady at my old stables did that for her cream mare, who had a pink nose with spots, very high factor. it did seem to help a bit. She put on moisturiser first to stop the skin being so dry and then the sun cream.

Yes on our grey pony Milligan (he has a pink nose and it gets burnt if we don't) but not on my bay mare (she has no white markings on her face). Is that your horse in the picture, if so you probably should be. I use any of the high factors which are suitable for children - I feel if they're ok for my kids, they're ok for the pony!

I did with Genie, but she rubs it off on the nearest hard thing and scratches her nose to pieces. So I bought her a full mask, which disappeared after a few hours never to be seen again... A few of those later and I've just given up!

Well put it like this, I try to put sunscreen on ponio's nose but he won't allow it most of the time. He had third degree burns on his nose when I bought him and I think he remembers it hurts. Am getting the two year old used to it now although I can't say he enjoys it.

Mine has a nose protector on a field safe headcollar but always gets out of it so I put factor 50 on his nose as well. I read a WHICH report the other day about sun cream and the best one was also the cheapest - £3 a bottle ASDA own brand.

Yes always have done with the grey. I go to boots to get my sons suncream which is always a waterproof high factor block and get the buy one get one free. He has one and the horse has the other.

Yes, because his nose is pink and burns really easily.
He doesn't like me putting it on, and often attempts to headbutt me, but I'd rather this than him having a burnt and blistered nose.

Yes as it is pink. Hold small piece carrot in hand and have the cream on my fingers so he gets both at once! He is mostly Arab though and OH asked what they did in the (near) dessert in the wild... didn't have an answer for that. Anyone else got one?

Yes i use it for the monster or camrosa as his nose burns easily. It would be so useful if i could have his mask with a nose net on it but he seems t think masks with nose peices are evil so must be destroyed (he thinks the same of ones with ears!).

No because he hates the stuff. My lad has a very pink nose so wears a field safe headcollar and a nose net (he used to have a full mask but didn't like that either)

Yes, P20 sun filter, because they are very pink noses. I taught the boys to drop their heads into my hands to have the stuff applied, and Sudocreme if they get a bit dry or peeled.
