Do you always put your girth through the girth loops on your numnah/saddlecloth when you ride or not?

I always do but Ive been riding some1 elses horse while mine is out of work and she never does!

Just got me wondering!

I always do the top fastening up(thru' girth strap or D if a high with er dressage numnah) and usually thru' one side at the bottom..but Madam Lardygutbucket puffs herself out when being girthed and getting it through the loop AND up to the buckles can be a big ask with freezing hands and limited patience!!!!

Yep, I do

I had missed the loop one day and child got pulled up by judge at a tack and turnout competition (Pony Club of course!) - I was a baaad mother.

So have made sure I do it through every time I ride to rid myself of such bad habits and make sure I don't upset DC/Chief Instructor any more than I need to...

I have a bit of OCD I think as everything has to be perfect, his bridle always has the keeper things all even and neat, and his numnah has to be perfect!!

No I don't!

!!

The main numnahs that I use are lovely ones that I got in Lidl, which are half fleece backed, and I have never had one move yet under any saddle that I have used.

A little lazy yes I know, but hey!

Yes I do
Having had numnahs move in the past I always put the girth through loops as it saves time and the hassle of getting off and re-doing it all if it does move.

I'm also a bit sad in that I bought a lovely sheepskin numnah which didn't have them, so cut up an old cheapy lunge line and sewed them on! OH couldn't believe it - it's the only sewing he's ever witnessed me doing!

No, and usually remove the higher up ones too - that go onto the girth straps. Was told once that where these ones are sewn on makes a really hard lump just under where the points of the tree go, so creating a pressure point for the horse just where you don't want it.
I understand a lot of endurance riders do this too.
Never had a problem with slipping, even XC and I'm really bad at remembering to tighten girths too!

No cos they seem to be at the wrong point for the girth buckles and make the numnah/saddle cloth ruche up and make a nasty lump. But I do use the velcro straps at the front of the cloth to attach to the straps there further up.

No, because they are often in the wrong position and make it really fiddly to do the girth up. I've never had any problems with slipping so it works for me.

Yes, always as my mare is sooo round everything moves - I use a rubber mesh under numnah as well & this helps to stop everything sliding/slipping about.
