Do you remember when dogs were dying from kidney disease linked to eating Chinese jerky treats

The type of treats the last time this happened were chicken jerky treats and strips. Also duck, sweet potato and treats where chicken or duck jerky was wrapped round sweet potato, dried fruit or rawhide.

Not all manufacturers state on their packaging that the ingredients are imported from China.

I sometimes think it's a bit sad that Blomma is old, and that I most of the time don't dare to buy her the same variety of different treats, and gnaw bones like I used to do, without mainly buys the same type that her old kidneys, and liver seems to tolerate, but then things like this happen, and suddenly it doesn't seem so boring to be on the safe side.

I must admit that even though I knew that a lot of treats/gnaw bones often are made in China, I hadn't thought about that some producers might import ingredients, and then make the product/pack it in another country so that they can both save money, and say on the package that it's Made in This or That other country that is not China. Hope they get problem sorted as soon as possible.

I went to buy chicken food this morning and dithered about buying some fillet wrapped chews. I actually didn’t, although I have fed them in the past before things were highlighted on here.

ETA the chews were for the dogs, not the chickens. 🤣

Thanks SD, it’s always good to highlight these things . I haven’t given mine any of that sort of treat for years after my friends dog nearly died from getting a rawhide chew stuck in his throat, that scared me so much all rawhide type chews were binned
