Probably a daft question. Just wondering if I need to. With small wounds, I've always given the area a quick rinse with a clean cotton pad after cleaning with diluted hibiscrub but today, for some reason, I got wondering whether it was necessary. Is it OK to leave it- infact, might it actually be beneficial- (will it keep working ?) or will it irritate the surrounding skin? Have I been doing it wrong for years?

My vet always says products like that destroy skin cells - he recommends salt water. So yes, if I did use it on skin I would rinse it off thoroughly

My vet told me it can "greatly hinder healing" so must be very diluted and rinsed. I prefer a salt solution/purple spray/wound powder

Hibiscrub is a known cause of contact dermatitis, so I'd always rinse it off. And ideally find a better alternative, it's one of those old school blast it with chlorhexidine! things.

My vet has strongly advised me against Hibiscrub as it does more harm than good. I think its just about ok ish on unbroken/undamaged skin but there are far gentler products available these days.

Thanks for the replies.

Vet actually recommended using it in this case. When I use it, I do tend to dilute it to a really weak solution anyway.
