As above. Do you leave in for 24hrs after worming? What do you pay for Straw? and a dilema PB loves to be out and grazing but BV my other horse, would happily stay in all winter if given the chance, I share a field so we turnout on alternate days but even then BV is waiting at the gate after 2 hours whilst PB is happy grazing. I can't leave her out alone as she stands at the gate looking for him and I don't have the option of turning her out with someone else.

Not entirely certain what your question is. Whilst I do not feed grass nuts, I soak/dampen all my feed. I pay £23 for big round bale of straw which lasts for 10 weeks on average. I worm, then crack on with life, poo picking the field before and after. If I found myself in a situation as you describe above (although I doubt I would because daily turnout is high priority for me) I would arrange with my sharer to turnout all horses daily. For example, if your two are turned out every other day for 8 hours, and shares the other days for 8 hours, I would turn out both parties horses every day for four hours instead, giving them daily, but shorter periods of turnout. Ad lib hay also occupies those horses who are less reluctant to he turned out. My boy would have you believe he is stood at the gate all day, but in reality if no one is around he happily grazes, the second he sees someone who he thinks can bring him in he is there begging at the gate.

I soak all the grassnuts for a minimum of 20 minutes, sugarbeet overnight even speedibeet. All feeds are served wet but not sloppy hay is served dry as mine wont eat it once it is wet.
They live out 24/7 poo picked daily or twice daily so no straw all will stay on their own in the field even if they may shout a bit

I do soak my grass nuts - the bag says they can be fed dry but they soak up soooooo much water I cant think it would be good for them to eat them dry, I'd certainly worry about some kind of colic risk as they soak up all the internal stomach content fluid. I soak until they have absorbed 4x vol of water - a good few hours depending on temperature.

I don't leave in after worming

I pay £1.50 a bale for straw

Turnout - tricky, mine have been being stupid in this weather won't stay out for more than a couple of hours before trashing fences and ploughing the place up!!

Always soak grass nuts. Excellent way of getting water into your horse. Also give nut water during / after work, water with some grass nuts in, tasty so they drink.

Yes, that's what I mean. If it were me, I would turn mine out am everyday and hers would go out pm every day. It's far better to enable shorter times of grazing daily between both owners horses than to alternate days of turn out.
