Do you soak your grass nuts?

I was always taught to always soak grass nuts but from reading on the bag you can feed as they are?
Do you soak yours?

I do, but I feed soaked feed anyway so I just chuck them all in together

Yes I soak them. Yes it says on the bag you can feed them dry, but I've found that if anythings likely to cause choke, dry grass nuts are.

I don't soak them, but do put them in a wet feed, so they are damp but still have a crunch to them.

I soak them to be on the safe side (unbranded so doesn't say on the bag if they need to be soaked).

Also, and I don't know how much of this is fallacy, but I was told by an old boy that you have to treat like sugar beet because a stubbs scoop of dry nuts makes about 2 (depending on amount of water) stubbs scoop of wet so what you think is a 'small' feed can become a pretty large, heavy one.

I soak them. They absorb an enormous amount of water.

I fed a small amount dry once horse got choke.
they swell up loads too so I feed soaked now

I soak them as the take up a huge amount of water and swell up a lot so I can't really see how they are any different to sugar beet in that sence??

In fact they swell more than my sugar beet shreads, one 1/2 stubbs scoops willl fill a standard size water bucket once soaked so easily 3 to 4 times original volume. Where as the shreads only really double in size.

I soak them in the feed.
But use the as treats too so obviously don't.
But smaller quantity should cause problems when they swell. (Hopefully!)
