I can't believe that, a year in, I'm still really excited about riding Ronnie every day. I get a happy and excited feeling every day when I know I'm riding (which is most days). Am I normal?
No longer get excited about riding. Don't realy know why. Very happy on the ground playing with our rescues though.
Rode last year, quite enjoyed it, thought i would try a jump - jumping mad in younger days - releived to have got over it!
Never thought until now how out of it i have got.

It's a big hill really. But it's lovely, and has a good gallop track on the top. It's a mile circuit - which is just as well 'cos it takes that for me to be able to stop
Yup, I always get excited about riding! I'm 33 this year and feel the same way about it as I did when I was a horse mad little girl. I always try to get the yard stuff done quickly so I can relax after on my hack.
No because we've got so many rules here it's all just left me a bit downtrodden, silly things like not being able to lead your horse without wearing a hat, gloves and yard boots, having to take all jewellery off on any of the yards (stuff that!), rules on riding attire.....it's just taken some of the fun away.
I'm hoping that once I'm a big girl and I'm working and keeping my horses on a proper yard I'll really enjoy it again
Really?! Goodness your yard is a bit OTT isn't it? We have to wear a hat for riding (and I sometimes wear one for leading/always for lunging) but otherwise very relaxed. I'd imagine that would rather take the fun out of it
I'm at college so everything is heath & safety this and health and safety that
but I keep them on campus out of pure conveniece really, means I can spend more time with them.
I can understand the riding attire one though because they want people to look smart but we're not even allowed to ride in sleeveless tops. It would be nice to just be able to hack out in my jeans and wesern boots though!
Yes - totally!!! I got my first ever horse (at the grand old age of 40!!!) about two months ago and every day is like christmas for me. No more riding for a couple of hours a week at the riding school (1 x hack & 1 x lesson) and always leaving wanting more!! I think I have ridden all bar about three days in the last two months (much to my hubbies annoyance). My mare has been quite a challenge - little TB, ex-race horse but we're getting there
Admittedly a little apprehensive about riding at the moment because he's been so spooked lately.
Even though we have a lot of work ahead of us I feel excited thinking about eventually competing. It's going to be a steep learning curve for both of us though but it'll be so great once we're going well!
I bet you were so excited to get yours (and still are!).
I've had to spend quite a bit more time than usual with him this week (going there in lunchtimes to meet vet) and just seeing him those extra times out of the ordinary was such a treat, bless him.
George is my first horse and I've had him nearly a year and I still get really excited about going to see him and riding, and I love taking him for long walks in the sun with me leading and nattering to him like a loon!
