I have a xc clinic on the 24th March that I really want to go to but am flying out to India for a holiday exactly a week later and am slightly worried that I will fall off and break/injure something so ruining the holiday. However I really want to do the clinic grr! So what do you do, stop riding or think sod it? :D Doesn't really help that I've already paid the deposit on the clinic as got my dates mixed up although it wasn't v much so not the end of the world but would like some opions :)

I think I would have gone to the xc clinic and not thought about it, but you may have tempted fate by writing this post so maybe give it a miss this time!

No I would not stop doing anything ,at all where do you stop driving ,crossing the road eating shellfish etc etc .

I raced a motorcycle the weekend before towing a caravan to France on the Monday. I deliberately put off going abroad as I wanted to do the race weekend.

Have to say having booked an expensive holiday I generally don't ride the spookier one before we go away. I may ride the others, but generally as they hunt all winter they only tick over in the summer. So, if they don't get ridden for 3 / 4 weeks so what. I enjoy my holidays away and it would be daft to take un necessary risks. To me there there is more to life than just the horses.

We are really really boring because we take our horses with us on holiday which is a 2 hour drive away
Ride all morning, get drunk in the afternoon and repeat for a week

My horse can be a proper plank sometimes and thinks he's auditioning for the rodeo, but my second job is as a pole acrobat, and in my down time I rock climb and snowboard ...I'm not willing to give up fun stuff at home for a fun time in holiday so I just don't think about it!

I dont stop riding before we go skiing but I did stop hunting at the beginning of December about 5 or 6 weeks before we went - we were going to Whistler in Canada for 10 days - not a cheap holiday and one that could be ruined by even a minor injury/break. Skiing is only hobby me and OH have in common - he puts up with my horse obsession rest of year so thought it was only fair to behave when he commented "are you sure you should be hunting before skiing " !!

Being honest if it was a summer holiday not a sports holiday I probably wouldnt worry as much as even with a small injury you could relax and use it to recover.
