do you take better care of your horse than you do yourself?

Oh without a doubt
classic example of putting the pony first he barged through the electric fence wrapped it round my ankles and galloped off with it tied round his leg too
When he broke free I tried to get up but couldnt so got onto my good knee and hauled myself to my feet hobbled after him treated the small grazes and bruises on his leg. Went home had a shower shaved my legs and went to A&E I had broken my ankle and smashed my knee to smithereens spent the next 8 weeks in a pot and need a knee replacement just because he was impatient and wanted into a starvation pen as he thought he was missing something. Dont think I would have minded so much if there was loads of grass in there but I had to rebuild the fence he wrecked as we had a severely laminitic pony in it who was close to deaths doors.
I do love the little monster though and he gets better and better everyday now he is growing up a bit he is 8 this year and a cracking if naughty pony
Edited to add the laminitic pony recovered while in our care and went home sound and full of beans she was a horror in a stable so lived in a stable sized pen in the field with the others

Without a doubt, horse, cat and dog have a very privileged lifestyle! Best of everything, whatever health needs, sorted immediately, teeth, feet/ paws, feed, supplements, staff, the lot. Lots of entertaing outings, stimulation, clothes, wonderful deep cosy beds. Me, I just work to keep the little dears in the manner to which they have become rapidly accustomed! However, they are all rescues and had some horrible episodes of neglect and cruelty before I got them: it gives me enormous pleasure to see them well, happy, in superb condition and having a good time. Horse is now a lovely ride, and much admired, dog a bundle of swirling energy and gaiety, responding to basic training very well, aged 9, and cat, who was almost hairless and covered with scabs when I got her, now has the loveliest deep shiny black and white coat and not a scab to be seen. Definately worth going without for me.

Absolutely! Im always last in order of importance. I wore ripped trousers today and have had three broken teeth for as long as I can remember.

Totally. He gets all the best food and vitamins and minerals while I live on toast and whatever is yellow stickered down at the end of the day.

In a word yes! With one exception - I have bowen treatments as I think if I'm out of alignment, stiff or sore then it will affect how my horse goes (although he gets way more treatments than I do!)! :D

To an extent, yes.

If it's going to impair my ability to look after them or work, then obviously I'll get whatever seen to.

Granted, in my entire life the only time's which have called for that have been when I kicked in the face [but carried on working and riding straight away! Minus breakers as had a broken nose and couldn't really see from swelling lol].

And when my ankle got infected and I couldn't walk on it anymore.

Didn't bother getting seen to for a number of other things [chipped shin bone (oops)...ribs...knocked out...landed on hunting...etc]
