Mostly when i'm out hacking as have no one to talk to but talking to him seems to calm us both down, probably because im relaxed....I twitter away in French and English and feel as though he listens (which is pobably stupid but anyhoo

I sing aswell - only in the woods where no-on can hear me....Am I mad?!? I feel it sometimes

Talk to mine all the time - especially praise and I do say it quite loudly. It seems to make a difference.

I dont actually shut up! esp when hacking or competing, i think as mentioned it calms the rider down!
Imake up songs while im going round the fields, goes a bit like this "Mummy wont love u anymore if you put me on the floor, you'll be sold and they will be mean and wont give you treats" - i have the voice of an angel ill let you know!

I talk to mine a lot, especially when schooling when I 'instruct' him with my voice saying all sorts of silly things as if I were on the ground instructing someone on him! When haking I quite often sing and was once caught doing so by my instructorwho rode round the corner of the path just as I was going towards her singing 'Finally Found' by the Honeyz rather loudly, I was very embarrassed!

my horse came became a napper and its took a good part of a year riding out, as people look on

"good girl mildred we're just walking down the road and your going to be good....."
i sort of half spoke it half sang it and felt a bit silly

but yeah always talk to her definatly mental.

when people say about me being mildreds mummy i disagree shes my mate i definatly see her as my mate? infact my first words to her everymorning are "you alright mate?"

Im so glad i'm not the only one.....I told one of my 'friends' et they thought i was bonkers

Even though they are french and have different views...

Hemir is definatly my baby, but i tell him everything

I know what you mean about encouraging them and everyone staring at you

My daughter sings to her TBx all the time to calm her down and it really works, she has her ears back listening ot her constantly and seems to enjoy christina aguilera!...........but then they are both bonkers!

you may laugh but it worked - he didnt put me on the floor ! I told me sharer she had to sing to him, she hasnt admitted it but i think snapped like a kit kat and made up her very own No 1 hit !

All the time - all of the horses listen to me if I tell them to stand by their gates as I will be back to get them, if I don't say it they wonder back off up the field!

Yep, I chatter away to ponio all the time, mostly when he's on the yard and I'm milling about, but also when I walk him down to the school, and when I'm riding. I think it reassures him sometimes, like when we met a horse-eating plastic bag the other day!

Yep, especially when I need to keep calm, did in the dressage test yesterday, and I don't think they noticed

she was so good though, we were so relaxed

very very unusual for both of us, so not bad for a first show. Also when travelling or hacking, I sing to her,

and believe me I can't sing in tune...

I think it calms her down, it definately made a difference when travelling the 10 month old on his own for the first time, maybe he thought if he misbehaved I'd sing louder?

We natter to ours constantly. In fact when I started my daughter learning to ride I used to send her into the stables with a book and tell her to read out loud to her pony - it helped them each get to know the other. We've carried it on with each of our new horses!
