Do you talk to your horses when you ride?

I talk to all of mine. I chatter away constantly if I am riding or handling a nervous horse as it seems to help them relax. I also sing to my boy when I'm out hacking!

If l am feeling a bit nervous l tend to sing not (very well} lol.

I sing as well, although this has actualy made me think why my song of choice should be Humpty Dumpty!!!!!!!!!!

I love having a chat, it is the best conversation of the day

Yes I do. We have a wonderful relationship because of it. I can do just about anything with them just using my voice.

They also like to have their little jokes with me - eg, asked for canter today (by voice) just settled nicely into it, so I said good boy, his response was an upward gear change to which I said stop being so cheeky (laughing) and he went back to canter. And the sighs I get when I muff the gate opening/closing and he has to go back round so I can try again. Then he will push the gate open/shut with his nose...

I am so lucky to have such a wonderful relationship with my big pony...

I talk to my 4 all the time. Sometimes they talk back.

My own gelding loves it, and follows me around keeping me company and helping out.

Try changing the tap and ballcock on a trough with a 17hh gelding helping out! he picked up my mole grips and droped them into the water. That's OK, but it was about 2C and not nice getting them back!!!

i talk to the horses and ponies at work especially if there's something new about, the customers give me the weirdest looks

I always talk to my horse, riding or on the ground. I even ask him if he wants to go left or right at junctions!

Always always always!!!

He's very responsive to voice, and he gets tense and really helps, I'm usually chatting to him in the show ring haha all the crowd tend to join in when I go past which is pretty cool haha they all go ''good boy good boy'' haha when I go past!!! I think I have a bit of a reputation for it haha!!!

I have on video when my dads filming me in the ring you can hear people in the background saying ''I like her and how she talks to him'' haha <3

Always say good morning and get a response (but I'm sure they are just saying hurry up I want my breaky haha) and say 'see you later' if they are left in or I'm going back up their later and say 'good night' in the evening!!!

I have always had very sensitive horses that have always responded well to voice so kinda a habit I suppose... both ridden and day to day handling

my main ridden ones are- 'anddd waaaalk', 't-rot', 'can-ter' 'woah' 'stead-yyy' 'up' (which more collected but 'up' so active if you get what I mean haha not rear hahaha) and 'standdd' 'back' 'over' 'good' 'A-A' (naughty/bad haha) 'betterrr' 'gooood boyyy'

and I of course make all the strange noises HAHA
