Do you think anyone would be interested in this horse?

I had one just like this she was an ex racehorse evented up to Novice and a proper 'Marmite' mare! She was advertised for loan and I thought there would be no chance of her being offered to me but rang anyway. Her owner was going to Australia and had advertised her for sale with no success, her claim to fame was a 71 dressage in an event!! I rode her twice round the school then took her for a hack and loved her. I am mid 50's, have worked in racing and hunting but don't do loonies now days! I always felt safe on her, my teenage daughter won two hunter trials on her but didn't like riding her at home! She could be a bit like riding a windmill!! I did some RC Eventing, low level BSJA and some hunter trails with her and she was a fun safe hack and I loved her. Unfortunately she was diagnosed with kissing spines and after a lovely summer in the field she, on the advice of the vet was PTS about 3 years ago. Look outside the box a little there is a lovely home for your lovely sounding mare. I have a 5 year old that came straight out of racing now, he's lovely too!

Thank you - what a lovely story. Fingers crossed I can find another you :)

My mare wasn't everyone's cup of tea and she apparently had some major fallouts when the pro was riding her. However, don't underestimate a mare that will look after her rider XC. Yes she was strong, yes she was opinionated but I learnt to ride her and she never ever made me feel that she was dangerous. I did hunt her successfully as well (she is most definitely an alpha mare). Plus sides - she would never say no including me having to go up a line after being hit in the eye by mud and not actually being able to see anymore than a blur.. downsides, would not stand to wait for anyone (would rear) and would fight big time if behind in a big field. My solution was to go out to one side so she had nothing in front of her. In the woods/narrow pathways she sucked it up and didn't try to get ahead.

She actually sounds like something that I would consider (if I were in the market to buy) I'm not a pro, but based on a pro's yard and eventer up to two star level so far.
Have you considered contacting professional yards to see whether any of their working pupils or people they train need a horse that is capable of going up the ranks with them.

:) I think my mare and your mare have a lot in common :)

Yes - I have, and interestingly, since I posted this, one of the pros I train with has contacted me and said he has a WP coming from abroad shortly and he has promised to assess her and see whether my mare would be suitable. This could be great because he knows my mare very well and I know him and his yard staff so it would be a solution that could work. Fingers crossed.:)

I reckon you can find someone for her - it will probably just come down to how much you want to sell her for and how long you're prepared to keep her for! Different riders want different things. Not everyone is looking for a perfect horse who's fantastic in all three phases. A lot of people won't have the budget for that horse. From a personal perspective, I didn't have the emotional resilience for a perfect horse and the pressure that I would put on my myself if I bought it, so I was perfectly happy with one who really did not want to know about dressage!
