I have a 2 year old, I can't sell- nothing wrong with him- its just Im having to move to the city and can't afford the livery of two horses plus a city house! (we have been living in a tiddly bungalow with land in the country for the last 18 months- so no livery costs!)

I didnt want to sell him anyway- but cant afford the £40 a week each plus the associated costs that may come up,

anyway, OH suggested we loan him out as a companion but we pay his jabs, insurance, wormer and provide any rugs, headcollar etc etc.
Do you think there would be anyone out there interested bearing in mind he's only 2?
He is super chilled out and gets on with anything..... but can't be ridden- so in many respects useless- but it was just a thought before we made any rash decisions!

Do you mean he can't be ridden because he's 2 or he can't be ridden ever?
because of his age- he's sound as a pound and actually done alot of the groundwork- long reins out on the roads and been bitted etc. Just not strong enough mentally and physically to be ridden :)

I think you're better off trying to sell, sorry. It is a terrible shame but I'm not sure many people would want to loan a youngster.

Depends what breed etc

2 yr olds need specific feeding in the winter.
Would he have to live in/out? etc
he has lived out last winter which was a tough winter and did fine on 8lbs of haylege per day on snow days plus Allen and page's Fibre Pencils and Alfa A oil twice a day from Novemeber to April.
He was rugged up though. He could live in (did so during the 2009 show season )but doesnt need it.
He's a Traditional cob cross Appaloosa

I have tried- he's been for sale for 2 months now- and we move at the end of September so the clock is ticking- the last option is an auction- but I dont want himgoing to a dealer for pennies

So, how have you advertised him?

Hes in 3 countrywide stores
The local saddlery in town
He's been on Horsemart- with extra paid in the first week to keep the add at the top of the page
He's been in the horseexchange.com
stabletalk.co.uk
horsedeals.com
adhorse.co.uk

the last one is horsequest but at £35 a pop thats the same as the cost for all the other advertising altogether.

Last option is brightwells auction in October I think. :(

I am looking for a companion/project on loan...as ted my warmblood has to have a year off in the field so will need a friend...will it be a long loan or short term?
either- if he's happy in his home he can stay as long as the loaner wants him tbh - as I have another youngster- however I dont mind having him back to re-loan out.

What is his breeding?
And price?

His sire is a Blue Blagdon Cob and his Dam an appaloosa - but because the sire had no licence at the time of conception he cant be officially registed even though since then the sire is now licenced- he would need a DNA test to prove it- but he has a passport with the Appaloosa society.

He is to make 14hh + as he surrently stands at 13.3hh at 27 months old.
He is advertised at £600 but I would take £500 for him. I originally tried £800 then £700 but nothing. I could reduce it again but Im worried a really low price will attract the wrong kinds of homes. Hence the trying to loan option.
