17hh gelding who weighed 668kg about a month ago on a weighbridge. Rising 12, unridden, going to retirement 1st April with access to acres of fields in a herd situation. Understandably, if the weather is good he won't be fed twice a day or have access to hay like he currently is as he won't need it. He will be turned out 24/7 (but rugged as appropriate).

Do you think I should reduce his weight a little as he's used to an individual paddock around 50m x 180m? And used to being in at night.

He's currently on 2 x feeds of Healthy Hoof 3 handfuls per feed, half stubbs scoop of made up speedibeet and hay.

He looks to have more coverage in the second photo although in the first he looks pretty good.
The shoulder is defined and I don't see visible fat pads. But in the second photo he looks more fleshy. Can you feel the ribs ?
If the neck going into the shoulder is defined, there's no fat pads behind shoulder or at base of tail ,.there's no crest and the ribs are easily felt then that would be perfect.
The saggy belly is just full of fibre and typical of a horse not in work so that's usually not anything to worry about.
