My blades have done 2 full clips and were cutting well at the end of the 2nd. They were brand new blades when I got them and have been looked after.

Do you think they can manage a 3rd? Thing is my horse is going to the prestige champs next weekend and he needs clipping before. Last time I clipped him a day before a comp and he turned into a loon. I cannot do it in the week so have to do it this saturday. He is a big horse but has been clipped already so not overly hairy. But the blades were used to do 2 first time full clips on TB type coats.

If it is only a second clip then I don't see why not! I usually try to get 3/4 clips out of my blades (but I always have 2 sets of blades on the go so I can swap them over if need be).

I have 2 sets but one are medium and the other fine. Ive got my mates clippers as a back up just incase.

Put my mind at rest anyway, I think I will start with a blanket then if they are still sharp I can just wizz the rest off

You should be able to get a third clip out of the blades with ease......ensure that he's been well groomed first though cos a dirty coat could blunt the blades very easily.

In the long run it's better to have at least 2 sets of blades.... one in the clipers & one ready to go, then you will never have this dilema.

They should do it, mine have done five full clips (four TB coat and one TB/Welsh D thick coat)..... Might be a good idea to treat yourself to a spare set though...........
